    It works best to do the edges while the board is still on and it looks the best that way. The tool easily slides right in between the board in the concrete when it’s wet. Just something to think about for future projects.

    Looks like you have a great father-in-law bud. 👍 I currently have a daughter at the134th Air refueling wing @ McGee Tyson AFB. Going on 13 years supporting airmen. Also a son that spent 3 in the army. A lot of that time in Afghanistan outside the base patrolling. Mad respect to you sir. Thank you for your service and God bless. 🙏👍

    You’re not doing it as cheap as possible… buying concrete by the bag is the MOST expensive way to pour concrete… most landscape yards sell a concrete mix, and then go buy bags of Portland cement… mixing your own is the cheapest way…

    Wait.. you say doing it by the bag is the most expensive way but then advise us to buy a bunch of bags.. what do you want us to do?

  • @bman6502

    @bman6502

    @@chief5981 what I’m saying is “premix” ready mix by the bag is most expensive… the bags I’m taking about is pure cement (Portland cement). They come in 94 pound bags, but you have to mix sand and gravel in with the cement.. you can buy the sand/gravel mix at a landscape yard (usually called a “con mix”). Use a 4 to 1 mix, meaning 4 shovels of con mix to 1 shovel of cement.. now if you’re just doing a small project, then the bags of ready mix is fine, but anything half yard or more,,,, the ready mix bags gets expensive

    @@bman6502 gotcha.. makes sense. My brain was computing. I’ve got to make a path from my drive way to my house. Not a huge deal but I want to get it right the first time

    @@chief5981 just for the record, I have nothing against ready mix bags, I’m only pointing out that by the yard, they are not cheap… but to be fair, if you don’t have a means (truck or trailer) to get the con mix, and you need it delivered, the price goes up.. I can get a 3/8” con mix for $52/yrd and Portland cement goes $15/bag (for walkways, you can use 4 bags, but if you’re going to drive in it, make it 5). So total cost is about $115/yrd… ready mix will run you around $225 (45 bags at $5 ea).. if you do t have a truck, you’ll have them delivered for additional cost.. one other thing about ready mix bags, it’s not good to have them laying about for too long.. even if kept dry, over time the cement will pick up moisture and harden..

    @@bman6502 yeah, I understand, I live in the country so I always have to factor in drive time, fuel cost, that’s type stuff as well and Time vs money. I just dropped 2 trees leaning over my house. Multiple quotes before inflation was $2,000- that included clean up. Well I rented a 50 foot bucket lift for $275 and took them down myself but I have also now put a lot of time into cutting and moving wood and now I still have to chop it all. As far as what you’re saying about cement, now that I know I can make a good assessment. I have access to a mixer so now I’ll just have to figure the rest of the savings and what it will take to make it happen. Thanks!
