    Great info again champ, on a side note, after I scrub my board down, I rub it with sand. It gets rid of the shine and the wax seems to stick a bit better.

    I used to rub it with sand but I now notice that I don’t need to as the sponge is doing most of the work anyway. I would say sand is the option when you don’t have a course sponge.

    Really good channel my friend, I'm a subscriber and give much respect. **Let's open this up for discussion** As a 40+ year bodyboarder, 'GEEZER!' I have plugged a few in my time. Always a nerve racking moment when stabbing a brand new board. As a tradesman who works with tools, I initially reasoned that a proper sized, sharp as shit, drill bit would be the best, and cleanest, way to both 'cauterize,' and introduce the plug. However, the slightest too many RPM's of the drill bit, and the interior-middle of the core is absorbing all that friction and could be widening more diameter than needed, creating long term play when the leash is under serious torque. Similar with the HEATED screwdriver. Some may use a bigger than needed probe, thereby rendering the board an injured bird. work with me here, I think the good old fashioned cold screwdriver and cranking her down is a safer bet. ??

  • @iaincampbell_

    @iaincampbell_

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Joel. For me there is nothing better than a hotter and smaller screwdriver. Again the core is waterproof for 90% of the boards these days so a cold screwdriver could work too. I was using cold screwdrivers for most of my career until a few years ago. I choose to use a smaller screwdriver and make a smaller hole and then push the plug through when it’s time to boog. I agree cold or hot, it’s a tough task to perform.

    How wide are those boards at the widest part? How wide are bodyboards in general? It's strange company's don't list the widths, only the lengths.

    Hi Iain I end up hitting the stringer while plugging a new board (kooked it..), but managed to still put the plug on (i just hit the bottom of the Torsion stringer) Can that affects the board performance / waterproof problem? (It's a found PP) Thanks

  • @iaincampbell_

    @iaincampbell_

    3 жыл бұрын

    Depends on the PP that they are using. Most of them are pretty good and waterproof but some aren’t. Maybe try get some silicone into the hole to plug it up, or you can use some wax to plug it. Both work.

  • @iaincampbell_

    Is it normal for the deck to look a bit hazy and not as shiny after washing it and letting it dry? I have some old boards that I never did this on and they still have the shine to them and slippery when deck is wet.

  • @iaincampbell_

    @iaincampbell_

    3 ай бұрын

    Depends on the materials and what they are made of. Some of the decking material is closed cell and will stay shiny. They did this on older boards. It does also stay a bit slippery. Newer board are mostly open cell decks and will become a bit more grippy when they get older. Once you wash it off you will feel the difference on a newer board.
