"Those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or who are watching in noisy environments - rely on the English subtitles (and i spend a lot of time and effort transcribing each of my videos to ensure those are available.)" This should be every channel's approach and I'm immensely thankful for the effort you put in this. Although I'm fluent in English, I find it very hard to make complex connections in my head if I don't see something written because it's not my mother-tongue, hence I really struggle without subtitles. Not to mention that every game has some weird names in it and if you, like me, prefer to watch a tutorial before reading the rulebook, those create additional confusion. Lastly, we might not realise, but there's MANY hard of hearing people in the community, they deserve to be included as well!

As suggestion I would consider not including your personal opinions on most things (i.e. "This rule is stupid" etc... ) as those types of comments detract from the learning experience. An assistant is somebody that works for you. Their role is to help you with whatever. An apprentice is not a worker; they are someone who is learning from you - a pupil. But in order to learn, they spend some time on actual hands-on work - they are doing this for the sake of getting experienced. You might pay an apprentice, if you are benevolent, because you know they need to eat. So, the main difference is not practical (you may give money for both and you may benefit from their work), but of the nature of the relationship. The assistant-master relationship is one of labor; the apprentice-master relationship is one of learning. But I agree with you that it would be clearer if they used different icons and words.

Even in the real world, though... at least in Canada... "apprentice" means something in the trade world, and apprentices most certainly get paid. "Intern!" • @NightsAroundaTable

Caveat: i like my games complicated, and this one definitely scratches that itch. It has a little bit of that Agricola agony to it, where one wrong move completely dooms your strategy, but you need to kind of embrace the theme and take it in stride if you're going to have a good time. Just keep thinking "The Prestige." It's not a nice magician game. You are mean magicians. You are cutthroat magicians. You're gonna get in each other's faces. i like high player interaction, but i know many people who don't. The action points system is cool, and i think it's the most interesting thing about the game. It's not just placing a worker on a space. It's not even deciding whether to place a big worker or a little worker, a la Viticulture. It's about really mathing out what you need to do, and which workers you need to place where to help you do it. i also quite like the decision-making of where to place your trick tokens in the theatres, because that's where you face the highest risk of getting hosed by your opponents. So i quite like it, enough to have bought the big and little expansions. i just wish more of my friends were up for 4+ hour games! Guess i'll have to wait until my next birthday to play it again...

@@greginfla7211 Weird! i've seen this before... does "worker placement" convey simplicity to you? Like, are only (i dunno) war games allowed to run 4 hours? Why should the mechanic have any bearing on the run time? (although, i suppose if i played a 4+ hour roll n' move, i would off myself.)

I never seen a worker placement game going 4 hrs. Its more of 4x or war games that run that long. Worker placement games have a relatively confined placement options. Even with AP, 2.5 hrs tops. Or at least that’s my experience. Of course i haven’t played Colonist. I am learning Lisboa so lets see if the 2.5 limit is broken.

There’s a huge difference in play length. Anachrony is positively breezy compared to Trickerion. But despite being by the same company, they’re kind of apples to oranges for me. It’s like asking “do you prefer flying by airplane, or eating strawberries?”

Hello there! Congrats for your video! Perfect for players like me who want to understand trickerion better! I just have two more questions! It would be perfect if you could answer them to me! First question: When it comes to the "placing characters" phase, players, one by one, place their characters on board ONE AT A TIME. Got that. What i dont get is this: when it comes to "spending action points" phase... players do their actions all in once? Meaning... first player spends action points for ALL his tokens placed on board, or one by one like in the "placing characters" phase? Second question: A player can't take those square tokens already placed on the trick cards, and place them on the performance cards in the theatre, if he hasn't placed for example an assistant on thursday, so that he takes an action point to place the square token. Right? My question is this: he uses that action point - in order to put the square token on a performance card - during the "spending action points" phase or before the show itself? Thank you very much for reading this. Waiting for your answer!!

"first player spends action points for ALL his tokens placed on board, or one by one like in the 'placing characters' phase?" You place your discs one by one. So at the beginning of a round, there are zero discs on the board. The first player places a disc. There is now one disc on the board. That disc has action points printed on it. The space the player places the disc on also has action points printed on it. Add those two totals together. The available actions in a single location all cost different amounts of action points. First player spends his first disc's action points on as many actions as he can afford with his disc+board total. Then the next player chooses a disc and places it on the board. There are only two discs on the board now. The first one, belonging to the first player, is all used up. The second player adds her disc points + board space points, and spends them on one or more actions in a location. Repeat for all players in player order, until you get back to the first player, who places his second character disc. Et cetera. Does that make sense? Second question: When you place a worker backstage, you can spend your action points on one of two different actions. The first of those actions is to move a trick token from your workshop to a theatre card. That costs 1 action point, and you can repeat that action for as many action points/available trick tokens you have.

Anachrony, Cerebria, The Gallerist--all have twice as much set-up as this game. Who's your target audience, if you have to complain about the set-up to get them to stick around? I'd love to see you cover the set-up for a game of chess. Don't forget to chuckle condescendingly when you explain how to know where the king and queen go. You can show your little 'rules gremlin.'

Good explanation, but dumb comments. By the way, on minute 15.10, When you prep a trick, you do not spend your components, does that make sence? offcourse it does (also the movie, sadly you didnt get it). You are not paying, spending money, you are just using something you have, and ypu can use it again. When you make vidio, do you "spend forever" your camera, table, or game? I dont think so. Also aprendice and assitant are two completly different words with complete different meanings. I can`t believe you can explain so well the game and don't understand these and a lot of other perfect sense rules.
