How To Play The Top 7 U2 Guitar Licks (Sound Like The Edge)

With a song catalog spanning more than four decades, it’s hard to deny that U2 has had a massive impact on popular music. And with 22 Grammys to their name, I’d say they know a thing or two about writing great songs. While there are many mysterious moving parts that make up a great song, The Edge’s guitar playing has always been a standout piece of the puzzle. So in this lesson, Kent is here to teach you how to play 7 of The Edge’s most iconic guitar licks.

The great thing about Edge is that while not being very technical, he has developed his own unique style, instantly recognizable, which is not any easy thing to accomplish, especially when there is a vast number of guitarists around today...

That's for sure my favourite U2 song to play. First time the Edge showed us what he could do at a more technical level - yet still, as ever, only doing so because it worked within the confines of the band's overall sound.

very nice video but edge most frequently uses the bridge/middle pickup position rather than the neck position. this (along with the top boost channel, herdim pick and the right delay) gives the guitar that “chimey” tone.

I wouldn’t categorize myself as a huge U2 fan. I enjoy some of their songs. But I never got the overwhelming cacophony of hate for these guys. Obviously Bono can be obnoxious with his rhetoric. But setting that aside, I think they’re a really good band. I don’t get why so many people detest them.

  • @elizabethlikins4287

I love the band, all players such a great& magical combination of talent! Then I became annoyed with Bono being so politically active in America (not HIS country!) As Americans, we have grown divided, intolerant, almost hateful to opposing views. So I realized that Bono, being the richest rockstar in the world, could easily just play & sing, & enjoy an opulent lifestyle. Instead, he chooses to HELP OTHERS! He crusades for aids victims, for human equality, he helps save people’s lives! And he is a really great vocalist, songwriter, musician! So I am dropping my judgements & intolerance by the wayside, and saluting Bono for all his humanitarian work, while being the lead vocalist in the most successful rocknroll band in the world! Thank you Bono!❤❤❤❤
