How to play the D-Beat punk drum rhythm as a linear pattern. Full Lesson.

So this is where things start to get interesting & more challenging. This is my 3rd instalment in my D-beat series & here we are looking at playing the D-beat rhythm as a linear drum pattern.
This is a tricky one, especially when played at the kind of tempos this rhythm is associated within punk. It really takes it somewhere new & will be a good one for even more developed players to have a go at. You don’t have to be a punk or even a rock player in general to enjoy this. This exercise is a good independent challenge for all players once you start pushing the pace beyond your comfort zone.
In this video I break it right down with slow & simple to follow examples. So, give it a go & let me know how you get on?

That’s the coolest variation I’ve heard! Love it and learning it!

Cool man. Let me know how you get on with it once you’ve had a bit of time getting comfortable with it?
I'm a Guitar player who is horrible on the drums, but I ended up subscribing to your channel to learn more about the beats and it has been surprisingly way more than beneficial than I anticipated. Thank You.

Hey Spike, I have seen you last weekend at Obscene Extreme with Memoriam. I didn't know you were into Bolt Thrower, too. I enjoyed it very much! 😁👍

@@SpikeTSmith I'm sorry, I better use a translation tool. I meant that you also play this oldschool death metal double bass style. Since I never really got into band personalities, I only got to know you through your D-Beat videos. So I was all the more happy when I recognized you on stage! ✌️😁

@@SpikeTSmith Not yet! 😉 Do you also have problems playing a medium-fast double bass when you haven't played a double bass for a while? I always have a problem with speeds between 100 - 160 bpm then. Greetings Sascha ✌️

I’m afraid I don’t. Shouldn’t be too hard to work out though. Just keep listening to the parts on the songs you want to learn. Have you tried the exercise in this video?
