Happiest of New Years to you Shane! Love this video. I really appreciate your continued excellent instruction. The addition of the bars and chords in the lower corner is super helpful. Great idea! Like the trick for the F with the thumb over the top. Always picking up some pearls from your videos! I'm currently picking my way through Leader of the Band but only have the intro. I see someone else has suggested this as well. I'm sure you would do an awesome job on that. In the meantime, The Boxer is now next on my list because of your video! Cheers! Lisa

Great tutorial.. I really appreciate Joan Baez Rendition from Oakland New Years Eve 1981 where she opened for the Dead. She strumming chorus hits the high E string for this motif of desperation it causes.. Really made her rendition.... I'll be happy to play either one, Paul's or Miss Baez.. As soon as my vocal opens up I go all off pattern, but this pattern seeming simple comparing to the one I have been starting on for this..lol...

Hm - I never realized until today that the song as originally recorded was tuned down a half step - I though the guitar was capoed at the second fret and the first chord was an A shaped chord (ie, really a B major). So I've always played the song in that position, using A, F#mi, C#mi, E and D shapes, instead of tuned down a half step and using C, Ami, Emi, G and F shapes. I think either way works OK though.

  • @GuitarAtWork

Hi Bill - good question indeed. If you just let them grow long they tend to be thin and will break. If you file just the very tips off every couple of days they will go thicker and then longer. Has worked for me for years Cheers! Shane

i need a favor, i play a lot of cover amd write. reguarding any cover , youtube teachers always try teaching note by not and i cant rinfg finger 3rd whatever and i am not alone so i am asking that you teach us the chords and stum the songs even the boxer. it gives the non acomplished player the basics and then i pick it my way for instance i play nobodies home on a six string bodville style. the charmers can wear a turtle neck and play it note for note but i am not paul simon . pink floyd or john prine i am me and 9 times i get the hug and the busking dollars and i am subsribing to your chanel
