As a proud Son of Russ, I will die.on the hill of not playing Space Wolves with a Gladius detachment. Which is not to say it is not a good detachment but I don't see the point of playing non-standard chapters as Codex marines.

Space Wolves have been gimped beyond playing as a chapter except for warm fluffiness. It's a sad time.

Agreed, play space wolves as space wolves! We got hit with a fluffy stick to start but the future is wolfy
As specific beats general, murderfang should be allowed to fight every single time he’s targeted as he is explicitly allowed to do so, which would override the general rule.
@MountainKing88771

Right. No one gets upset you can advance and charge with Ragnar despite explicitly stating in the core rules you can not do so. People are just afraid of Murderfang. Lol

Hey Jord here, it's a weird one right, the death company dread has the exact same rule, it will get clarified in the future I hope but as of right now we believe it is only a single activation in the fight phase due to the core rules but we are hoping to get clarification on this! I agree it should be everytime though for sure

@@VanguardTactics special rules take priority over core rules. So he would be able to fight after he gets targeted endlessly. Same with world Eaters dreads. No clarification from gw yet...?

I agree with this. For example, the Overwatch stratagem says it can only be used once. The latest Warhammer world tournament had rules writers as judges, and they said that all rules that allow you to use a stratagem again (like rites of battle) let you overwatch twice. So Codex Rules Trump Core all the way

i have zero problems with murderfang - had a game today and he got 24 attacks - seems perfectly fine xD - he is the best boy
The Wolflord can give his unit a stratagem for 0cp, taking Gladius gives you Honour the Chapter, which gives you Lance and +1 AP... Gladius also gives you the Assault Doctrine - Advance and Charge
I'd love to see some Space Wolves battles, either in Champions of Russ, or Gladius Detachments! Thanks for all the info, and analysis! Can't wait to see more of my wolfy little guys!

This is something we want to get on the channel, we will keep it in mind for our schedule mate! I think trying it in champions of Russ would be cool! (Jord)
Absolutely great video, love the insights. Nice to see my rookie brain had a bunch of the same thoughts as these experienced and capable players. Makes me feel like I'm on the right path. *especially* the TWolf Cavalry with Wolf Lord + Black Death. I run 2 units of TWolf Cav with Wolf Lord (and a Battle Leader) mostly because theyre cool as hell. But also because with Lethal Hits from the battle leader and just huge weight of dice, you can really really punch above your points cost. Since yall mentioned it, I havent really ever found myself using that cheeky free 6" move though. I think maybe once? I actually quite like the sagas. I find myself stacking my army pretty captain and wolf lord heavy just for the free stratagems so I can make sure I have the "active sagas" I need. It seems to work decently well. And (of course) I play hyper aggressive. Deep Striking terminators w/ termi captain and frost weapon to try and pick off a character turn 2. I like giving a Primaris Captain Black Death with their master crafted power weapon. Using the Finest Hour ability gives you a total of 8 attacks and Dev Wounds with anti vehicle/monster. I run Bjorn up the board early and often to try and force Saga Of The Bear. I just wish they'd let sagas go into effect instantly and allow us to trigger more than 1 per turn. That'd be the bump, I think, that the detachment needs.

Hello there. For me, giving a Wolf Lord with TH+Black death lethal hits makes the WL worse imo. Since you don't role to wound you can't score any criticals and therefore don't bypass the save. Maybe I am overthinking. But I would run without lethal hits. But having the extra character with a thunder hammer is still tasty.
@ChopsTV
Жыл бұрын
You are entirely correct and I wasnt entirely clear. When I run Black Death on a Wolf Lord, I dont run the Battle Leaders. When I run the Battle Leaders, I put Black Death on a Primaris Captain. Using Finest Hour, you get 9 attacks at 2 dmg with Dev Wounds and anti vehicle/monster 4+. Thats like 8 mortals, give or take, which will finish off a vehicle thats taken some dmg during shooting. That said, I think there's a lot of value to be had in running Battle Leaders/Lieutenants on critical units for the Lethal Hits buff and not really trying to chase Saga Of The Beast Slayer too hard. Saga of The Warrior Born is the one that lets you advance and charge with Relentless Assault and it gives exploding 6s. Thats where all my saga chasing energy goes. But then, I'm also new to this. Maybe I'm over spending points to take Lieutenants when I could take cheaper anti vehicle units and get Lethal Hits via saga. Whatever. Big packs of wolves are cool.
🎉subscribed in totally new to 40k love your enthusiasm
Play ultramarines, paint grey, there you go. You’re prepared for the upcoming changes
Yet to play 10th to be fair but when crunching through the index I think the saga stuff is a bit easier to set off than I first thought. With wolf guard pack leaders getting the character key word. Great review by the way guys as are all of them. Can't wait to get my first 10ed game under my belt of Russ.
Thumbs up for the howel
Great overview! Do you think blood claws/grey hunters are at risk of going to legends? Im afraid to start an army and gave it become null in the near future...

I have found great success with sagas...they all stack on top of each other so lethal amd sustained hits...sagas can be pretty easy also

Feel weak and pointless.
Will you do a video about Imperial Fists?
Those sagas are tricky... practically need to slow roll all your weapons to make sure your character pulls off the deed.
personnellement je joues principalement en gladius mais je serais très curieux de voir ces deux rapports de batailles avec les deux détachements en Russ et en gladius 😉
why does no one mention the fact that our first born melee marines have 1 less attack than assault marines base, as a melee based chapter this should annoy more of us especially since in editions past blood claws got an extra attack over assault marines because of their blood lust lore wise. i get we can take 5 more bodies and get the same attacks and extra wounds but thats not the point, lol
bring the wolf king again, we need an update with the new champions of russ rules!!
I think the Saga rule could be improved by letting you unlock each buff as you complete them, instead of forcing the player to choose one first.
World Eaters when?
my thunderwolf Calvary had thunderhammers so im losing my damage but only by one when i charge so not the end of the world
Got rid of the sons of Russ?! Heresy!!!
The murdermaker special rule is so appallingly written it is very difficult to gauge just to what extent it applies.

You can tell they are trying to stay positive but they know the space wolves detachment is bad. The sagas are all pretty hard to achieve. And alot of the space wolves units are just bad at the moment.
@woahhbro2906

And the benefits for completing them aren't that powerful imo, or at least the benefit doesn't match the level of effort made to get them. A lot of Sagas feel like they're only achievable later in the game as well.
