Well, now I know I'm not the only one who's frustrated with all the BAD/wrong tablature out there! Funny you should mention the solo. That's what I'm working on now. I actually found a really GOOD, accurate tutorial and tabs for that, after a bit of searching. And this video by Justin is the best one on KZread for the basic riff and rhythm guitar parts. I'm about to send out a link to this, for all my Rock 101 students.

I think that Justin beats most other tutors, with his timing and counting the beats!😊 You can know the chords, individual notes, etc. But if the timing is off, it won't sound right.

My first guitar lesson was in 1980, the instructor asked me what I'd like to learn, "Eruption", I said. His reply? "Hmmmmm, how about Smoke on the Water for now". Forty years later I've decided to play the rest of the song, and thanks to this video, found a better way to play the main riff too. Thank you!!!

First time Blackmore was recorded on tv playing this he played with his back to the audience...as if to hide what he was playing. Apparently he experimented with Bach when he stumbled across this

As I was commenting on people giving up you addressed the issue. My grandson who was learning guitar I tried starting him on this song so I taught him the opening chords. He kind of got it down, and seemed really interested in continuing. I went, and bought him a 25 watt Fender combo amp, and gave him one of my guitars a Schecter with Zakk Wilde EMG pickups. One week later, he quit, because girl's became more interesting to him. I'm thinking about arm wrestling him, and winner gets to own the guitar, and amp. 😉
