You're one of the very few guitarists that cover a song and understand the played notes! Compliments!

Yeah but I can play it sited down but NO standed up
The guys in my band keep hassling me to learn this track and id love to do it. Great demonstration of Paul's inner guitar technique. Ive always loved the way Paul's arpeggios are played. There is this fluidity to them that sounds just right to my ears.
Hey, Remy! Thank you for the lesson, man. I had learned to play the song by ear only, so this helped me correct some minor details that I used to play differently before. Keep it up, you've got a nice, fresh and simple method of teaching!
Dude, this is an awesome lesson. Easy to follow and not boringly slow like a lot of others I see on youtube. If someone is good enough to actually play this song, they should have NO trouble following this. Excellent and accurate lesson. Rock on!!
Not many people have courage to make a guitar lesson but you did it very well. Congratulations
Exactly and I love that this guy understands that he's addressing experienced guitarists.
Still the best lesson I've ever seen for this piece, 12 years later lol. I hope you're still out there playing, maybe as some kids guitar teacher. I would have killed for that 15 years ago.
@remyhansen , I just want to say that you improved my guitar playing for at least 5 years, I am playing for 10 years now, I started late, when I was 19, at the beginning I was practicing for 4-6h every day, but if you are paying attention on wrong things it is useless, you are advancing very slowly! and since I first watched your videos, some 1 year ago, I start realizing that I should use accentuation and dynamics more. You are great teacher, and above all very nice and polite person!
Thank You SOOOO much!!!! I almost forgot I asked you to do this but im sure lots of people asked too! And thanks for being the average persons's connection to Paul Gilbert. It's nice to have a reliable source about his music
NEVER seen a lesson on the Bach arps before. Thanks man, clears up a number of things.
Thanks for the lesson mate! Started learning this one tonight and you've been a great help :-)
Great video, nothing I can complain about. Good work, man.
You are absolutely right. I remember I tried to learn this song a couple of years ago. I couldn't make sense of what he is doing. I just picked it up again and now everything makes sense tempo and notes wise. All that's left to do is a good amount of metronome work. But I can definitely relate to what you are saying.
thanks dude! i learned technical difficulties from your other video. scarified was just another beast then i saw this tutorial! great video and awesome lesson \m/
Thank you so much for this lesson! thanks to you i can finally play until the arpeggios ^^ and with only 2 days practicing! keep doing those great lessons.
Nice lesson. Good that you get straight to it and u no that your talking to experienced guitarists. Keep up the good work!
You are a very good teacher man ! really helpful vid
What a wonderful tutorial. Nicely explained matey. Really good to see..Thanks
Thanks mate ! Im trying to work it on bass, this helps a lot !!! Cheers from France !!!
A fireman, and ENGL and a brilliant lesson? You sir, are awesome. And by the way, I REALLY do love your setup. ENGL ROCKS!!!!
cool man! great vid! love this tune! great explanation of it. how long did it take you to feel confident with it?
VERY GOOD LESSON MAN!!! Better than tabs. Better than those lessons you have to pay for. Well done! : )
FIRST!! HAHA had to say that I'm gonna use this to put a cover up! I love your lessons I used your Fuzz Universe one to put my Universe cover up ;-) Thanks Remy!

thanks for sharing bro. great clean shops!!!
Who is the one jerk who dislike's this? Remy you're the man! I'd love to see one on Street Lethal!
@pjguitar15 hmmmm let me see; I'm not getting payed by the note here ! If I'd have to name every note , It'll take me 1,5 hours to do this song! No Offence, but maybe check this video again when you're up to it. Thanks BTW: Other guitarists don't seem to have any problems with my explaining....
He's explaining it just fine -- you just have to know a few things about the electric guitar before you get into it -- such as some scale patterns and arpeggio patterns, not to mention a good bit of chords (or at least the ones used in this video) and how to pull arpeggios out of chords.
yes you explain this so good....thanks Remy you helped me a lot with this song i practice this :) thanks for this \m/
You are the ultimate Paul Gilbert fan!
Killer bro, thanks for the vid! Amazing playing!
Would love to see you do a video on playing the first arpeggios as they are played on the original album -- both the main one and the harmony.
Great tutorial. It is cool that you played it slow many times. Keep up the good work.
Best scarified lesson ever

Nice! :) I already knew this song and this is exactly the way you should play it, I may upload a cover of it in some time too ^^
dude, your an awesome player, have a sick guitars, and are super cool.
Hey Remy Im your fan and i would like to ask you how you practice when you learn a solo like this one. And thank you for all of your videos, keep doing new videos :D
Solid lesson, helped me a lot subbed
incredible tutorial. Brutal
Great video! I love how the tubes are glowing inside that ENGL :D
Love it .Thanks .Going to save for later yeeeaa
so helpful man! thank you :)
Excellent video tutorial but I confess I always found that double use of the right hand tapping finger for that descending 2 string lick starting at 9:35 to be clunky feeling, I feel more smooth pulling off that first note of each 6 note grouping with the left hand ring finger instead of alterating between a right hand tap and left hand ring finger on the same fret posiitons (I feel like I get all twisted up that way .... HA) In my Case 18-16-18-19T-18-16 (puling off that first note and only tapping on the 19) is smoother for me than tapping both the first note @ 18 fret first and then playing that note again with fretting hand whle moving tapping hand out of the way. But I confess what you are doing with the double tap seems to be what Paul does .. and it does look more flashy - Smile
@MyxHarnett No, not all of it! I used a pretty clean tone so that you can hear what's picked and what not. I know, it's still difficult to hear, but you'll get it!
You have made a song which seemed beyond my ability to play, now within reach. Thanks! :)
@DeludedFixations It will be up in a few hours! Best, Remy
0:36 "Yay" LOL Great leasson, thanks a lot!
This is the best tutorial I've ever seen :D Thumbs up and Subscribe!
Wow , what a great tutor👍🏼
Thanks Dude, saved me a lot of time!!!!
Bedankt Remy, Goede les!
Holy shit, you have a Fireman. A rarity among mortals. Amazing lesson!
Idk whether to follow yours or Mr Zoupa's for the arpeggio section before the verse
Excellent ! Thank you so much
Paul and Bruce were originally picking most of the notes in that classical section… did Paul also change the left hand fingering or would it be the exact same with just more picked notes?
Hey, I loved the way you do this... but I got one question, can you explain the first arpeggios but like the old (album) version? (sweep picking them I believe). Thanks!
Really great video.
Remy, What is the sixth chord of "The Bach piece " you did?, because it is very rare
Every time you play F# minor my brain plays the intro to Bojack Horseman.
Thanks for this!
U r so awesome ,dude!!!
Great vid. One question, on the D Maj and E Maj arpeggios after the intro, are you playing the F# and D on the high E, then skipping the B string altogether and then playing the A, F# and D on the G and D strings, or do you play straight E shape arpeggio to the root on the D? Knowing Paul's playing, and from what I can make out on the video, he plays the skipping version, but I'm struggling to get that to sound smooth.
thnx man nice video!
great lesson man
good job !
you've got a great video by the way what is the tuning?
do you play everything in alternate picking? especialy the first part. I saw many guys playing it in triplets, moving to next string in the same stroke while going upwards or downwards. Thus I practise it that way, easier, but I watched lately your "Technical difficulties" and discovered he plays everything in alternate picking. which one is best in your opinion? also thanks for your vidios' please make more accent on the right hand
Came here hoping that PG used a legato for the main riff...... time to sit in a corner and cry

@racerx11080 Hi There! That's very kind of you ! This kind of comment makes it worthwile to schoot these video's! Any questions? Just send me a message! Best, Remy
are you using Palm mute? because i can't get that sound with my amp without palm mute, paul uses PM in this song? thanks.
@racerx11080 I will !! I'll do it next week if not too busy!
cool story bro, here have this stone.
you ! are ! EPIC !!!!
Thanks a lot!!!
@davviscool yes it would help no question about that but overall playing guitar should be for personal enjoyment and fun and for some people theory would take away from that
O Shit!! Fireman guitar !!
You are the man, thank you very much :D
@sdmf1982 Thank you very much! I think it's clear enough for you guys!
Dear Remy...GREAT!!! I am good at theory because I've studied piano, conducting and composition: your video is clear to me and I can play the piece slowly, but I'm quite a beginner with the guitar (played the bass for years but it's different). In the second Bach arpeggio, the B minor that you call "nasty", can't the fingering be changed so that the ascending D-E-F# are played with 2, 3 and 4 rather than 1, 3 and 4, so that the 1 can stay on the 14th fret, rather than moving twice? Why not?THANKS
geweldige tutorial man, je had alleen van mij iets meer distortion mogen gebruiken, soms komen die nootjes net niet lekker door. ik snap wel dat je met minder distortion probeert te spelen, maar crack it up voor de videos next time :D
very good thanks man!!!
could you show what you do with your right hand? When you do these triplets, three notes per string, I always find my pick on the wrong side of the string when I need to change the string. So what do you do, do you sweep the first note on the next string?
@santinhoww

alternate picking. in A string : down, up, down , then in D string: up
awesome~!!!!!
Did you figure it out by ear? If so then impressive... I am pretty good at playing by ear but i definitely could not figure out the pattern for the arpeggios. Thanks for the tutorial!
Hey remy,in the first string skipping arpeggio section(spaceship live one)i saw that you did it with hammer on and i know Gilbert does it with hammer on too but for me its easyer to pick all the notes.Any tip to play it with hammer on? Excuse me for my english.
Ignore him. Some people want to be spoon fed and not actually take the time to learn these things. Killer video as always! BTW, you check out paul gilberts online classes now? If so, what do you think of them?
Great lesson mate, :-)l
Thank you very much.
this vid help me alot thx bros
Tanks teacher master''
Yeah....I think I'll just listen to you and Paul play it. Tricky lol.
Hey, how long did it take you to memorise the fretboard and actually be able to play out arpeggios/scales without really thinking?
@akinnon2000

When you start to get the CAGED system, you are never lost if you know where are the roots.
One more thing Remy is the Bach arpeggio section all picked?
your nice teacher remy hansen >>> :D
Cuál es tu pedal Bro?
