How to play 'Sad But True' by Metallica Guitar Solo Lesson w/tabs

Музыка

Tuning: D G C F A D
Hi guys! Welcome to my redo of lesson 132 of Learn That Solo! Today we look at how to play solos 'Sad But True' by Metallica.
I've always loved this solo as it has more of a rock feel than just straight metal. There's nothing too tricky outside of mostly pentatonics with a bit of triplet action and some fast pulloffs here and there!
Take care guys! Happy shredding!

    That’s why you buy more guitars🤘🏻 I have 6 that are tuned differently. Especially if you’re playing metal. So many different tunings. I use Floyd Rose on most of my guitars. So it’s just not practical to tune/detune. Even my hard tails I just keep in a designated tuning. Tuning back and forth a few times a day will chew up the nut anyways.

    @@Wargasm644 i just use a digitech drop pedal, can achieve most tunings you'll ever need with 1 guitar tuned to e standard and 1 tuned to drop d

  • @Wargasm644

    @Wargasm644

    Coop I’ve had various “detune or drop tune” pedals. As well as harmonizers. To my ears, nothing beats a guitar in a designated tuning. I’ve had a digitech drop tune built into one of my digitech multi effects pedal. It was ok, but no substitute for the real thing. I have 9 guitars now, so I’ll just grab whatever I need and rock out. Plus it’s fun having different rigs with different setups (strings/pickups/tunings). Variety keeps me engaged. The only time I really liked the digitech was when I was running 2 amps. One with the drop effect the other amp running at dryer settings. Makes for a cool “doubling” kind of effect. Other than that, I have enough guitars to cover most of the common alternate tunings. Just sounds better too me. But it’s just my opinion. Not saying one is better than the other, whatever works for you, roll with it 🤘🏻
