How to play 'Proud Mary' by CCR
Here's another essential campfire classic - we'll nail down the chord shapes and strumming patterns for this masterpiece as well as the super cool lead phrases in the chorus. We've got very important percussive strokes built into this strumming pattern, a really important skill for any guitar player. We'll do a slow playalong as well as a full speed playalong toward the end. And...we'll throw in some lead at the very end for those of you looking to improve your scale practice and soloing skills. Fun!

Wonderful lesson, as always. Shane, I'm always amazed how you anticipate the impediments that every level of player will encounter and how to overcome them. My experience is that the more expert one becomes, the more likely they will forget the struggles others will have. Those little tips save people so much frustration and are just as valuable as the play-throughs. Thanks!

Great song by a great old group
One of the reasons CCR is such a great band. Those boys were talented. And this is one of their best hits. Nice. I really should find a decent guitar at a pawn shop and relearn this tune and others taught by you. Thanks
How awesome is this? I haven’t watched one of your videos for a while as I have been trying to learn some other songs that you haven’t gotten to yet. Watching this just made me realize what a gifted teacher you are. I just got a few more excellent technical music lesson pearls to use in my guitar journey. Thanks for all the great CCR lessons, Shane! Stupid question about the Beat Buddy: Can you use it with a straight acoustic guitar or do you need to plug your guitar into it like you do for the Aeros Looper? Also, What do you get with the Beat Buddy that you don't with the Beat Buddy Mini?
Can you do rolling on the river, ccr?

Barr chords up and down the neck can cover a bunch of songs right
@GuitarAtWork

They can Jim but they can sound very closed and stuffy if overused and just dragged around. A mixture of barre chords and open chords is typically better. Shane

Hi Shane, thanks for the great lesson. Your definitely one of the best teachers out there. Quick question: the Aeros looping machine sells for about $600 but I see other loopers for less than $200. Just wondering what makes the Aeros so special that it costs so much more? Does it have more "bells and whistles" than most of us really need? Thanks so much again.
This guy is GOOD! Not as good as me , but good! LOL….
Ya can't do CCR's leads unless you include John Forgerty's "d" tuning.. I'm sure you know, but let your learners know. Good stuff, btw.
so i have a question, If a person can play this song with you and at speed and not make any mistakes at all. what level would you say that person is at .in your opinion . I do realize that this is and easy one to learn.

Great question Dalton - and it really does depend on their level of detail. Play the song first, Don’t worry about the intro. Add the intro when you’re feeling up to it. Shane
