How to play Private Investigations by Dire Straits - Part One - Guitar Lesson Tutorial
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this guitar lesson tutorial, we look at how to play Private Investigations by Dire Straits. The song appeared on the 1982 Album "Love over Gold". The song features Mark Knopfler on a nylon-strung guitar, probably a Gibson "Chet Atkins" style classical.
The intro melody uses notes from the E Aeolian mode, with much of the melody based around the chords played by the piano. The verses use the same chord progression as the intro with Mark playing arpeggios and some fills to join the chords together.

No problem, glad you liked it.
This song has a lot of slash chords with different bass lines. I believe was composed with the "help" of piano....
excellent lesson - thanks you, When i look at the chords used and melody i wonder if Mark Knopfler had learned music theory at some point. If not he was a really great self taught musician - cheers

Hi Paul , hope you still do lessons on KZread.
Hi Paul, great tutorial, just like your others, but is it possible to get a PDF of the fingering and the Tabs? It would make learning the moves easier when practicing without having to constantly hit rewind and play.

Hi, Bob. I don't do tabs for any song because I'm worried about copywrite infringement. I'm aware that other KZreadrs do, but technically we're not supposed to. Sorry to disappoint.
KOOL 😻
Dots on the fretboard would be useful.
Hello, nice lesson, just my opinion (take it or leave it I don't really mind) but I'm not the greatest so maybe slow down a little in future tutorials. Thanks anyways
remember the old good times with songbooks lol now, no effort
Tabs would ease the learning so much :/

Thanks for the comment. I'm avoiding doing tabs; it's something of a grey area where copywrites concerned.

Can you include the tab in your page? please.

Hi JP, sorry for the delay in responding. I can't legally include the tab without getting a licence although I know other KZreadrs do. Sorry to disappoint.
