How to play 'Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard' by Paul Simon

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here is a fabulous song by one of the greatest songwriters out there. Join me to learn the chords and strumming patterns at a comfortable pace. We do a full playalong at the end at a reduced speed with the metronome. Great practice!

Thanks for the strum alongs. There are loads of channels and books with chords, notes and tabs, etc, but the rhythm is the key, as some of us don't like memorizing up down up down etc, and would rather feel the rhythm - a bit like learning dance moves. Some of us know the difference between up stroke sound, and down too, so the strum alongs really help nail the rhythm. I like your boom chikka or chicken explanations....

I agree Scott. I have tried to learn this one in the past as well with limited success. I was never shown the strumming patterns which made all the difference in the worlld. Shane's play along at the end helped a lot too. It is super helpful to be able to follow the entire song after we think we've learned it to fill in parts we may have missed and correct parts we got incorrectly.

I feel the marketing at the Beat Buddy Singular webpage is not good at all. I think as a consumer and a person on the outside it's lacking in clarity and it's confusing as to what they are selling and how much it is (lot of scrolling, time and thinking involved, I did all that but still clicked out) Look at it and look though the eyes of someone who is not familiar and wants to maybe check out the drum machine. Other wise I love your channel and your lessons are gold. Thank you

Thanks for that and so very glad you are enjoying the videos on this channel. I have not had the same experience at all with the Singular Sound (BeatBuddy) website. I have found it to show prices in my currency (CAD) and great product descriptions and supporting videos etc. Try this link straight to the Beatbuddy page: www.singularsound.com/products/beatbuddy?aff=37 It can be a bit daunting if using devices for the first time - it's a whole other world - I would agree. But....I just gotta say that this company has fabulous customer support and their products 'grow' with you as your needs and skills change and improve. And remember....I was a product owner for MANY years before I was every affiliated with them. My best to you and very glad to have you here with us! Cheers, Shane

I've been playing the song a long time and can vouch for your great lesson! You really lay out the intro and strumming pattern perfectly and very clearly. However I quibble about only two things, chord-wise. First, the B minor chord you include I believe is incorrect. To my ear it sounds like a B (even B7 would work but B minor sounds off if you play along with the original). Also, the song includes a G chord you seem to have left out (at least in the video). For example, on the line "Goodbye Rosie, the Queen of Corona" there's a quick G chord landing on the word "Queen", then the chord shifts back to A on "Corona"
