How to play Hocus Pocus by Focus on Hammond Organ

Hello good morning good afternoon and good evening to you all!
Tricky little one for you today, but hopefully profitable for you too! Here is how I play Hocus Focus by Focus.
It's a tricky number as I say but once you free your mind and accept the chords..... sorry enough of that.... basically go slow and try not to learn any mistakes and you will be fine.
Here it is played frankly too fast lol : • Hocus Pocus - Focus | ...

I had some unbelievable good fortunate today, and I'm now the lucky owner XK-5!! The guy included a Profkon ZD-1.

The "rising" part is played over A Phrygian scale. Thijs Van Leer is singing the A Phrygian scale during this part.

Thijs Van Leer played this on a Hammond L100 (spinet) so he didn't have the benefit of the bottom octave for his left hand. In some of the old films you can also see him playing one handed as he juggles a flute. 😁

Wow, doing a great job there. Obviously it’s different to the original on spinet, but I love the way it sounds on the C3. Doesn’t have to be completely authentic in my book it has to work in conjunction with the band, it may be better than the original! I can live without the yodelling!

Sorry to be that guy, but Thijs did never play the „alternating powerchord G-A riff“ at all, at least not live. He played an ascending chord line, going from A minor, B minor, C major, D major and then the fast chord change. 😉 The rest is really spot on and incredibly helpful!

Awesome video as always👍 Beautifully weird and spooky but strangely wonderful chords. My only criticism YOU DIDN'T YODLE 🤣

Hi, what a great sound this Hammond organ has, I have an XK5 and a Leslie 3300 but I can't find this gain, have you already tried to compare and do you think it's possible to find this sound? (sorry for my english ;( )

I have a 5 and 3300 too and I can get that gain no problem. From memory drive at 2 o’clock and tube type at 9 o’clock and importantly XK5 output at 1 o’clock.

after the dfg in the part before the drums, it sounds like it hits a quick e before the slide

I think you've got a few chords wrong in the first part. The trilling would be good in the absence of the Yodeling, otherwise, they're just block chords. Since the chord is B, it would be F# and D#, not Gb and Eb. I also think one of the ascending chords is wrong.
