Davvy, love the channel and your thoughtfully structured lessons. Couple of inaccuracies on this one that need to be addressed. (1) When you demonstrate the verse, you're missing two beats after "him" and "like I told you". The song stays in straight 4/4. Because "him" lands on the third beat (on Emaj), you need to wait two beats to start the E maj riff. I know this from embarrassing experience. In a band situation, it will cause a small train wreck. It's a subtle thing that tons of people miss and I've even heard a recording where Jerry spaces it. (2) On the chorus, the "oh" in "oh he's gone" and the "bring" in "nothing's gonna bring him back are E7 (not B). Same during the F#m instrumental. This was a struggle for me to figure out, too as I thought the chord was D. RUkind.com gets this half right, but jdarks captures it correctly in his tab. Apologies for being critical, you are really doing phenomenal work here and I've learned a lot from you - please keep 'em coming!

At the end of verse when it goes from B back to E you gotta hit the high E notes then hit the low E starting the riff instead of just hitting the E as one, its like half a beat off or something

Back in the 70s the guy who sold me my weed was a deadhead. He always had an album spinning. So many times I asked him "who is this?" After a while it became a running joke. No matter what song we heard he would say it was the dead. I was confused in those days. But, 50 years later i get it. What I wouldn't give to see D&Co at the Sphere.

You mentioned, "John Bartlett," do you mean Johndavid Bartlett? I'm doing some reading and wondering more about this guy. There isn't much info. What do you know? What do you mean about his relationship to the dead when you mention him as a poet alongside Robert Hunter? I'm very curious.
