That stroke of fate tip about not hitting nearby units was pretty cool
Thanks for this detailed guide. Gonna use this later.
Love to see grim on my team Expecting a rough one when opposing him Strong hero for sure Combo with lich is nutz
been spamming grimstroke the last 3 months with a 66% winrate, he's SO good. Didn't know that the stun duration and burst damage on ink swell were governed by instances, not time, so that's helpful. Also the part about soulbind and how it re-latches and how phantoms embraces interacts with it were new information, thanks!

Broksi how to counter your w the silencing spell? I played slark and void against grim and absolutely hated it. To a point I’m not gonna pick either of them if there is a grim.

@@Philvalentine7 grimstroke is just naturally good against those types of heroes, yeah. You can counter phantom with manta, bkb, invis, or banish mechanics though. Also linkens blocks it

@@MrRipYourHeadOff thank you. That’s what I thought.
this hero is so fun and impactful to play i love him
Favorite 2 soulbind abilities to use: Paralyzing cask and Wrath of Nature, yes that works.
Hey Zack, slight correction for 14:09 - Clones (aka Arc Warden Tempest Double and Meepo Clones) all count as hero units for Ink Swell when calculating and dealing damage, you are correct in that illusions and creep heroes like Lone Druid's Bear are regarded as creeps by this spell when calculating damage. Since you main support we're not surprised that this weird behaviour isn't super known to you - though it's good to know since you enjoy playing ET too - damage calculations for Astral Spirit buff use the same mechanics of regarding clones as heroes and illusions and creep heroes as creeps. Great video otherwise :)
For me, the most complex thing to learn about Grimstroke is Soulbind. There are so many interactions. I'm constantly asking after the picks "Oh whats' the interaction with LC's Duel, with PA's blink, with Pudge's ult, with NP's sprout, and so on ...". Most often than not, there are no interesting single spells, or they are just gimmicks, and i end up skipping ult at level 6 to get Phantom's embrace 3 faster.
great
As a humble grimstroke player i always found it interesting that no one likes phantom as much as i do. If u use it correctly and at the right moment it's an op ability cuz the detach has shit ton of damage and the silence is so paralyzing especially when paired with ink swel cuz then the cooldown refreshes and you keep throwing that shit
I am so happy you recommend stroke level 1. I just hate being a spectre and having my Grim take ink swell and be useless for the first 3 minutes of the game. Maxing stroke is also the 'funner build', nobody expects the 500 damage nuke at level 7 and it rewards skill shots rather than relying on your team for kills. You can also stack and then take stacks if you max Q.
This guide is only 3 months old, but did they change the way ink swell calculates instances since then? I just tried it in a demo and I couldn't see it building up faster on 5 heroes than on one.
there's this one game where i was able to soulbind + dark portrait both carries from enemy team, and it just decimate them.
niche tip: spirit breaker ult targets the other guy during grim ult
Team coordination. Gross.
Was sad to see little mention of his scepter, that little illusion is a GEM, I personally use it to make LCs live in fear of their own shadow, they duel someone, I soulbind, portrait, silence, ink duelist, and its donezo. Because the illusion does MORE damage than its original and is basically magic immune the LC amd her blademail cant do anything about it during a duel and it will eat her alive, the better she does in a game, the harder the copy hits, and it inhibits passives and items like diffusal blade, radiance, CK crit, abba curse, etc. Had a game go on long enough to get a refresher for fun, we had a bane with refresher as well, fiends grip on 4 people is just...it's something else man.
Grim in 1k is such a troll move. Nobody can work out how to use ink swell and unless you initiate with soul bind nobody has any spells left to give it a good effect

The first (only?) time I had Grim as my support, he cast Ink Swell on me and then got mad, pinged me, and left lane when I didn't immediately dive under the enemy tower to land it.
First I don't care that I'm not, I still wrote it
