Instructional video on GOAT. Please let me know what you think, what you liked, what you didn't like. I'm hoping that my explanations make sense.
I do move quite fast because I figure this video is more reserved for intermediate-advanced players. Also, rewinding is really easy. I encourage you to play with playback speeds too.
Part 2 will cover Scotts part, here it is; • How to play G.O.A.T. b...
I have not included any tab, because you can buy the official tab for the album from Polyphia's website, so if you need it, just go there and support the band you like. polyphiatabs.com/ -

    You need to tap more. Learn Building The Church by Steve Vai. It's a 3 fingered tapping thing, but it's just a simple pattern. Deceptively simple, and once you've got the pattern down, you'll feel like a god. Playing that a few minutes a day for a couple of weeks and you'll likely never have any issue with finger tapping pains again :)

Thanks for the feedback

  • @writemetalmusic

    @writemetalmusic

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@TheOneSekiro Oh man, I'm really sorry, I must have written up a response but not posted it. I find with anything like this, it really comes down to what you're willing to do. If fingerstyle is very important to you, then find a way to tap that allows you to keep your fingernails. However, if tapping is more important, then I'd recommend shorter fingernails. But in saying that, I would like to point out Marty Freidman, James Hetfield, Van Halen, and countless other guitar superstars have 'imperfect' picking technique. However, they are known as guitar monsters. They've found a technique that works for them, and honed in down to a craft. In the case of Marty Freidman, it's given him his signature sound which is quite hard for most guitarists to replicate. My suggestion is to weigh your options, and if you desperately need to start tapping, but you don't want to sacrifice any abilities for fingerstyle, then work with what you've got and find a way to make it work. Who knows, maybe you'll be tapping with your knuckle? Giving it a go right now, it's a little difficult, but I believe using your index finger and 'pointing downwards' would work. Alternatively, keeping your palm close to the fretboard and tapping with a straight-ish finger may be another option. Just play. If you have the passion to carve your path, you'll find a way. Sorry about the delay again, I thought I'd responded. Let me know if you've got any more questions. Jake.

  • @writemetalmusic

    Yes, count it like i did with a metronome. Play it slow and smooth. When you've got it mastered at the show tempo, bring it up by 5bpm. Keep going like that until you've got the desired tempo. Could take a few days or potentially a few weeks but you'll get there.

    Hey Faysal, sorry for not being clear. I think the key is to 'stop' the notes a soon as the next one plays. so instead of having random strings or old notes ringing through, make sure when every new note is started, the old ones are dead. Other than that, take it slow, and it'll come :)

    What are you using for your guitar tone?

  • @writemetalmusic

    @writemetalmusic

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Giovanni! I am just using Guitar Rig by Native Instruments. I chose the tone because I wanted something that sounded like it belonged in a 'Polyphia world', but also sounded distinct enough that you could hear me in the mix. There are LOADS of amp simulators out there, and from what I can tell, if you get one that's got a known brand behind it, it's more down to your ability to use the software than it is the software itself.
