If you play with 8 characters do you get 16 sidekick dice in your bag at the beginning? I watched one video where they had 16, but elsewhere I'm seeing 8.

Each player starts the game with their 8 sidekick dice (and nothing else) in their bag.

Hi, sorry to be a pain but I can’t find it in the rulebook about only being able to use 3 dice on the very first turn! Where does it explain that?

No problem. It may be that you have an older rulebook, as the rule was introduced some time after the beginning of the game, to reduce the advantage of going first. You can find all the rulebook links here: dicecoalition.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Rulebooks&structure=New+Players The newest is Superman/Wonder Woman and you'll find the relevant text on page 8 :)

I believe dice masters explanation of why. I've seen it done in other games like call to cathulu so the starting player doesn't have an advantage.

Hi, I know I’m very late to the party but my wife and I have just brought slots of dice and cards, and are yet to play a single game due to conflicting videos. This tutorial is so straightforward and simple. It’s brilliant. However on modern playmate they seem to distinguish between a used pile and a spent pile and it’s confusing me because aren’t they the same thing? What is the difference? Thanks for your time, best wishes.

Welcome to the game! Glad you liked the vid 🙂 I haven't seen the modern playmate video, but yes, 'Spent' would be a less common alternative to 'Used'. The source of the confusion might be what is called 'Out of Play' (sometimes 'Transition'): we have another video all about that 🙂

Thanks for the reply. I’m going to check out all your how to play videos. I saw on one playmat with transition on it. I don’t know why the attack zone isn’t split into 2 zones, perhaps red and green, and labelled attack and defend, so you put your dice in the part according to whether you are attacking or defending, but I haven’t played yet so maybe that’s just unnecessarily confusing. Cheers 🙂

Many mats do separately mark the Attack and Field Zones (though the first is just a subset of the second). You can check out some examples on our website: dmunited.eu/dice-mats/ I think it'll probably make a lot more sense when you start playing. I just push attacking dice forward so that they form a second line in front of those that are not attacking.

Wow 😮. Those mats are incredible, and you let people download for free...that’s just amazing in this day and age. If only I had a printer capable enough. I only saw the top few and was already blown away. Excuse me a moment whilst I go look at them all properly 😂
