Tip 1: Set your vertical FOV to 0.6 or 0.7 and horizontal FOV to 0.9 from the Oculus Debug Tool. You can almost double your resolution this way. Tip 2: If you have a low end GPU, just disable post processing and Single Pass Stereo from CSP VR Tweaks. Game becomes so light this way.

There's also VR tweaks in the shaders patch menu. Making some changes there can give you an FPS boost. Assetto Corsa runs well in VR, but the main issue is some mod tracks or mod cars are poorly optimized and can cause stuttering compared to the official Kunos content.

Do you have any recommendations on cars that are optimised and any car packs go stray clear off Mainly drift and btcc

Link cable is nice, but if you have a nice router Virtual Desktop is next level, you can have stuff like snapdragon supersampling, SSW and most of all hand tracking which works with Assetto Corsa (and of course you are wire free)

I've only used the link cable at the moment so I can't really comment on which is the best for quality. It depends on a few factors and there's pros and cons for all. If you have WiFi 6e and slower USB port speeds or even a bad link cable then either Airlink or Virtual Desktop could be better. From what I've read or seen people seem to favour Virtual Desktop over Arlink. As I'd always had a tethered headset to the PC I've always been used to a cable. And I've not got WiFi 6e so just went which could offer me the best option. There's also Steam Link now but there's pros and cons to this one too 👍🏻

@@thesimracingshaolinstudent i've just built my pc recently with b650 tomahawk motherboard and ryzen 7800x3d so i think link cable speed should be good and it's much cheaper for me to buy just a link cable than 6e wifi router which costs minimum 200-300$, but i'm waiting to get 4090 probably new year because now it's out of stock everywhere in eu or prices are extremely high, so i'm probably get something like 3070 until i get 4090 and i'm just wondering if 3070 is enough to play comfortably especially rbr. So if i'm using link cable should i just use oculus app on pc or there is another and better option to configure whole setup? i'm asking because at friday my frinds are gonna visit me and everyone want to try racing/rallying for the first time in vr, now i'm just impressed with standalone games on quest 3 and i'm wondering if pcvr looks even better in headset. Friend of mine gonna bring 3060 from his computer just to have fun at friday, hopefully setting things up wont cost us too much time before we can actually gonna play :p

@gundam0039 I’m running a 4090 with an I9-14900k and yes the bitrate and what you can set it to will depend on your PC. The default value of 0 is around 150Mbps from memory.

Great video. Super helpful. I'm brand new to VR (had it less than a week) and relatively new to PC sim racing in general. I joined the CSP Discord server like you suggested and grabbed the pinned document. However I had 2 questions/concerns that I'm hoping you can help with. 1) The AC settings document is dated 2019. Do you know if it's been updated since then? 2) The heading of document is "AC VR Settings for Samsung Odyssey+" Were you able to use those high or ultra settings pretty much exactly? I'm looking for guidance because I believe my setup is pretty similar to yours. I'm on a 13900K/4090 with a Meta Quest 3. Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

Yes for your CPU and your VR headset I would use the Ultra settings. In fact, I would recommend copying mine shown in the video and see how you get on. Let me know how you get on. 👍🏻

The only VR Racing i do is on Gran Turismo Sport on my PS4Pro, so yeah, the quality of the image is not very good, is pixelated but i can compromise that for the sake of being in the car which is by far the best experience i ever had. I am thinking on buying a VR Headset for my PC to try in Assetto Corsa, problem is, my PC is on the low end range in terms of VR. I did run the Steam VR Bench once and said it's just about VR Ready, but that means in my opinion that is not realy good for VR and i need a better spec. So i will have to delay the PC Build and VR Headset.

My in car view seems fine apart from the speedometer are a bit blurry and the reds are too. My problem is that the foreground in the distance is quite pixilated as are the other cars when they are up ahead. Can I clear this up?

how were you able to record your game footage so crisp? is it via the AC display monitor?

The image clarity is so crisp in the headset anyway but I use OBS with the OpenVR plugin 👍🏻

Wish I found this info 2 months ago, would saved me hours of faff. One question, I notice you use open VR setting in video settings of CM rather that Oculus. Is there a reason for that

how did you get assetto vr to record widescreen like this, mine only does for the right eye and the fov is super small

I cannot get Sol to uninstall using the new Pure 0.222. I still see Sol in the weather options and I don't see pure in there, I know I installed it because it is in other areas of content manager. I had also uninstalled content manager from scratch at least from the method I pulled up from online, that did not work, sol is still in there. Im lost. Plus on top.if all that now im getting the 3 loading dots when trying to link with pc. Tried many options on that too. I don't want to ha e to reinstall windows.

Hi, would you mind confirming a few things for me please....new to VR, never owned one but im a long time sim racer so im about ready to take the plunge and try something different to my triples for that extra immersion....Kit wise, i plan to use the link cable if it does a better job for sim racing, does this negate the need to buy the headset with the extra battery pack or will i still need it? I presume the cable charges as you play so it cant run out and therefore no need to buy the charging dock either right? Will i need to the two handheld controller things? Hey and welcome 👋🏻 Firstly I'd be super interested in your opinions on VR vs triples. I've never had the space so would welcome your thoughts. So the Meta link cable doesn't keep the headset charged. It will drain slower but will eventually run out. I would purchase a powered link cable. You essentially plug one end to a USB 3.x port on yor PC and the other to the headset. In the middle of the cabling there's a power box. You take the original Meta USB-C cable and plug one end into this box and the other into a mains socket. I would seriously save your money and not buy the Elite strap. I bought that too and then very quickly found it still not super comfortable and bought the Bobo S3 which is a very similar price (may even be cheaper) and is not only super comfortable but comes with a battery pack that does keep the headset charged and a cooling fan too. You don't need to buy the controllers for SimRacing. I would only recommend those if you ever plan to play standalone games. I use the hand gestures to launch things. Let me know how you get on. 👍🏻

Does Meta quest 1 allso work with PCVR ?

This is an excellent video, thank you. One question: Since you adjusted the resolution to 1.5x, did you adjust the SteamVR resolution as well? SteamVR has 100% up to 500%. Second, on your oculus debug tool you set your bit rate to 950? What exactly does the bit rate increase do for clarity? Or is it for performance? Cheers

Hey thanks for the kind words 🙏 You don’t use SteamVR as we’re launching it with the Oculus runtime. All the resolutions are set in the Oculus app. The bitrate increases the clarity. Hope that helps 👍🏻

If you have an nvidia GPU then this is enabled in the nvidia control panel. For AMD I think it’s in the adrenalin app. 👍🏻

WOW this is a great video! I have a Varjo Aero headset, what are your recommandation of graphics settings with the Varjo Aero headset? My graphics settings in AC are not very clear and crisp compared to ACC. In AC with your ultra setting the FPS is not stable and bounces between 80-90 and the VRAM on my 4090 GPU is only using 8Go out of 24Go. And in ACC the FPS is stable at 90 and the VRAM is at around 20Go. So my settings in AC are definitely not optimized to get the maximum resolution out of AC! Please help!

They’re both very good in VR in terms of clarity, graphics and being optimised well too. AMS2 is by far the easier of the two to setup 👍🏻

Iv just moved over to VD after getting a better router and it's been amazing. Setting the computer to render half the frames and the headset to do the rest gives me such a fps boost iv been able to ramp everything else up. Running on a 3060ti btw

When I start to play, everything looks good that’s initially close or around me but stuff that’s far away. It looks very grainy or blurry. Any recommendations?

If you run the USB test from the Oculus app that will tell you that you need USB 3.0. You can buy a PCIe card for pretty cheap these days. 👍🏻

When this has happened to me in the past it's either been the Car VAO's or the ppFilter. Have you tried changing the ppfilter as that's quick and easy?

You can yes if you have good WiFi. They recommend WiFi 6 which I don’t have but I’ve always had a cable connected to my VR headset for years so I’m used to it. Let me know how you get on 👍🏻

Came across your channel last night as im at that point of frustration. Having setup my motion rig at not getting stuff to work together. In short i have a dof reality h6, fanatec csl wheel/pedals,quest 3,i9 with 50 ram and a 4080 sp setup power is all there. I run virtual desktop not a cable. I have sim racing studio, is that the quivalent of content manager? I bought asserto on steam and dirt rally 2 but when i tried them my pc slowed right up(maybe its the virtual desktop but it works perfectly with half life and ghosts of tabor.) And i couldnt get to go into vr mode leaving me with cursors or press enter etc. Is that because asserto is only vr "supported" and theres some setting i have to change ?? Lastly if i download the other software like pure and shader patch will it be compatible with my currebt setup. Thanks as you do explain setting up so well!❤

Sorry to hear you’re having issues. So I use sim racing studio for my wind sim so this piece of software would be to setup you motion platform. Is that all working ok? Let’s start with Assetto Corsa first. Content manager is a launcher for Assetto Corsa so you don’t run the ac program, you run content manager choose the track the cars practise or race and then it launches the game for you. In content manager under video settings is OpenVR chosen? If so try the Oculus Rift option. OpenVR works for me and others but not for some people. Try that and then let me know what you see then 👍🏻

Following this great guide i managed to have my first test and the rig did connect however after the race i tried to restart the race and it glitched out and then had to do a complete restart and try again. So still not out of the woods for finding why.... trying a powered hub tomorrow when it arrives. But i cant audio through my quest 3. Link cable tests ok. How did you get it to work, as on the net its a known bug. Fir the moment i have to run through a bt speaker. Thanks

Thank you for the Walkthrough. I'm still trying to get all the settings down because it doesn't look great despite running a 4080 super. I'm having an issue getting rid of the performance overlay in the oculus debug. I rese the visible hud to none but it's still there front and center. Any suggestion?

How do I see the full screen, for proper VR with head movement etc? All I can see through the quest link is what looks like a virtual monitor in the middle

Press the left handed start button on the vr controller. I had the same thing, its just showing you the screen of desktop one so if you press start it will close that and the game should be playing

Thanks! I have a 2080 Super and despite lots of fiddling can't get anything resembling good he graphics without a decent playable no motion sick FPS. Will have to revert to flat screen until my 4070 arrives. Appreciate your videos ! It's a big reason why my fellow ACC racers have come to AC. I do have a friend who is well connected and says AC2 will be mind blowing.

If you've got good WiFi then no you don't. Your PC only needs to have a USB 3.0 port. So can be a standard USB port with the blue plastic just inside it. Hope that helps. 👍🏻

Cant find the oculus debugg tool

The colours are really bright/washed out on my Quest 2 so I can hardly see the track but if I move really close to the windscreen, I can see perfectly (so it seems to be some sort of glass effect). Any ideas how to fix this?

I actually just use the head tracker, point with headset and use volume buttons to click

No you don’t. Any USB 3.x port will do. Can be USB-A or C 👍🏻

I followed this tutorial and i have horrible lag/chops and only about 15fps. PC specs 6800k 1080ti (in sli but i guess that doesnt make a difference?) enough m2 SSD space where AC is installed. i literally put the AC Setting to the lowest possible and its still unplayable. Does anyone have an idea why that happens? I have heard that OpenVR bricks your Headset but i have no idea at this point. Any Help is appreciated

Well yeah... He is cranking the bitrate, and resolution to max while running a game on high settings. For you it's like having dual 4k monitors and trying to run cyberpunk on your mid-tier PC. 1080s and 6800k cant keep up.

I thought assetto corsa had native vr support without the need for all these mods?

What if I'm using wifi? Does it need the usb cable?

No you don’t need the USB cable. You can use Oculus AirLink or Virtual Desktop or SteamLink. I chose the cable route. 👍🏻

Hey man hope you’re doing well i am connecting my VR via quest link and when I try to get into an online server my vr starts tripping out. It takes about 8 min to get into the server then it just crashes. I have a 3060 I7 16 G of ram. Single player servers work but online are hell and I have to cross my fingers when I try to get in. Please help if I could get into a call in a discord that would be amazing. Thank you I also subbed

Hey you can’t connect the Quest 3 to a display port, no. Only USB-C. Apparently steam link allows you to choose 120hz but so far the link cable only goes up to 90hz 👍🏻

And I'm guessing no changes? Even though OpenVR works perfectly for me and others, have you tried Oculus Rift in Content Manager?

I just got the quest 3 I have a 4060ti 16gb, Ryzen 7 5800x3d 32 gb ram etc, followed all the steps, now when I launch the game it says warning, failed to initialize vr. What do I do?

A lot of people like myself can run with OpenVR chosen. Set it in content manager to Oculus Rift and try that 👍🏻

Can't seem to get this ish to work

Question: I always struggle to boot the game in VR, I tried adding it in Quest but it just doesn't boot, what I am missing? It's like VR isn't enabled in the game.

Try setting it to Oculus Rift in content manager. I use OpenVR and so do a lot of other people but for some Oculus Rift works.

Now a harder question, I saw a video someone driving with hand, waving the other hand, and switching on music with his finger via dashboard of the card, and having traffic, this is all possible?

I have a i9, 32gb ddr4 and a 4070 but can only get 45 fps in vr how do i fix this?

What settings have you got set in the Oculus app and debug app?

why does it say Can’t save AC settings: Access to the path is denied. Make sure app has access to cfg folder every time I try to set a preset

I know you can use an Xbox controller. So am guessing you could use one.

I’ve always had it set that way and works really well for me especially for recording content. Not felt the need to change it 👍🏻

I got it running over steamlink, no cable needed. I didn't even try, it just did its thing. Am I a wizard or something? Folks that made steamlink are wizards?

That's why I like my psvr 2 Gran Turismo 7 plug it in turn it on and play

everything went well, except that when I accelerate with the pedal, the game steering wheel turns, while my real steering wheel doesn't turn...

That sounds like you have a mapping configured oddly in Content Manager. If you go into controls you can set them up there. 👍🏻

In Content Manager go to Settings -> Assetto Corsa-> Video, select Oculus Rift or OpenVR. I’m using the last.
