Thank you so much for sharing your opinions!! I , myself, learned how to play piano for 8 years and still don't know how to read music sheets, but I can play really long songs without looking at the sheets because of my memories of where are my hands on the keys and what shape are my hands ( like the numbers of fingers and which finger are used when play ) . Edited: I did not learn how to play by myself, I learned it from different teachers

Absolutely man, when I was learning guitar I was taking classes but I always found that I loved listening and playing by ear and that exponentially developed my skills and I’m legit able to do it to any song now on guitar! Now I’m learning piano and I got sick of watching tutorials and looking at chords and now i sort of learn by ear again hahah except I also watch how people play to get some phrasing correct

I've always been drawn to music, specifically arranging and transcribing from ear. I've always found it extremely easy too, I've always been able to instantly repeat a song I've heard only once or twice. No idea why, probably due to my autism lol, but whatever. I'm planning on monetising off this talent in the future, and hopefully want to be in some sort of job transcribing music, or atleast something music-related.

Personally, I learn up music that have no sheet music by memorising the melody and transposing the chords (if the key is one that I am unfamiliar with). I managed to learn up kiss the rain (in my own simplified version) using this method. Usually when I have sheet music I learn partially by hearing and partially by readng sheet music.

I make up random stuff that sounds pretty good, while messing around, I found some notes from songs and then figured how to pretty accurately play the song by testing out all of the notes, and listening to the music, without sheet music, and note labels.
