    Just found this video after become obsessed with Rodrigo y Gabriela on KZread-very big with percussion on guitar (check out their cover of Orion). So glad I found this video for uke. It’s such a great reference for someone starting to learn percussive beats and you give great explanations. So excited to keep practicing!

    Aww thanks for watching. You shouldn’t feel too much pain. The key is to relax your hand and fingers as much as you can, but most importantly, If it hurts... stop. You don’t want to damage yourself. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍

    @@ukulelesimon I have trouble pulsing the strings like you did to play then mute a chord. You also taught me C major with two Gs. I love that sound.

    @@ifferl8781 Hey, Yeah C with 2 Gs is epic. If you're having trouble with the pulsing, I would suggest some really slow practice for 10 or so minutes a day, just to build up your fingers strength. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Simon, in your "3 Easy percussive Drum Beats" On the first mute strum do you come up with the strings muted or miss them going towards the finger clack?

    It's easier to make to clack sound with the thumb rather than the index finger for me. In case this helps somebody

    what kind of ukulele is ideal for percussive? i have a soprano and it doesnt seem to do that well(i could be doing something wrong but the bridge of mine looks a little different and i have no clue how im supposed to play a chord with the bass drum)

    You can technically do it with any kind of uke but I find tenors work best as they are a bit bigger

    The bass beat part with a chord is very difficult, I can’t get the chord to actually ring out its soooo soft it sounds like an accident

    If it’s making a noise then you’re on the right track. Keep at it and it will get louder, you’ve got this 👍👍

    These would work with any ukulele, the main thing is to experiment with the one you have. A soprano will sound different to a tenor, but that isn't a bad thing, just different. Have an experiment with your ukulele and see what it sounds like.

    SLOW IT DOWN!!! I love what you are teaching, but no beginner can follow the movement that fast. Also, it is hard to tell with the bass slap if it is landing on the strings, behind the bridge, or above it, because the camera is dead on instead of at an angle.
