    Thanks for the tips. This is the first year I tried the multi branching sunflowers and love them. I have been cutting them for flowering arrangements and they are just the right size I will be collecting seeds and to plant them next year. I live in North Central Florida and am looking forward to a long season of beautiful blooms

    never knew about cutting just above the leaf and getting another bloom. I was pulling out the whole plant thinking it was down once the top drooped. Next time I will do this thanks

    It depends on if it’s a branching variety or single bloom variety. The seed seller should indicated which kind on their website or seed packet.

    I bought Lemon Queen seeds to interplant with sweet corn because I read sunflowers repel the corn ear worm and our apiary (Honey Bees) will thrive with the extra pollen around our vegetable garden.

    We now have a portable electric netted fence around the garden. This was due to rabbit pressure.

    Natasha, I grew the sunfinity sunflowers last year after watching your video. They were outstanding! I see in this video looks like you have amaranth (red spikes?) planted in your garden. Would you recommend this plant in a borden garden (full sun) or is this plant more of a cutflower? Would love your thoughts. Thanks!

    So happy to hear that you were happy with the Sunfinity sunflowers. They are so prolific! I grow several varieties of Amaranthus. We use them in our bouquets. They get rather tall. One thing to know is in our climate the leaves are a pest magnet and not always beautiful. We strip all of the foliage off for bouquet work. It might not be the case for you. We grow velvet curtains and hot biscuits varieties.

    @@1818Farms Thank you for getting back to me Natasha. I live in RI Zone 6. I've never grown Amaranth before. I started a cut flower garden for my wife three years ago and grow B. Giant Zinnias, which she loves. Added the Sunflowers & Gomphrena last year. Was thinking about Amaranth this year. I bought some Red Spikes seeds. I'll grow in a test area before placing out front. Thanks again!

    Pinching is basically assisting you in them not becoming too tall and falling over and controlling the bloom size. How many leaf sets do you currently have and how tall are they now?

    @@1818Farms they are over five feet tall and are a different variety than the sunfinity ones you talk about here. The branching sunflower plants I have have burgundy flowers that are already blooming and many buds on each plant. If I understand correctly. It would be ok for me to pinch the top bloom once it has faded? I did buy two sunfinity plants after watching your video and I’m happy I know how to care for them. ☺️

    Great information. I've planted a long row of branching sunflowers, Soraya, Sonja, Ring of Fire. So we'll see how they do. I notice the plastic mesh you have. What does that do for you? I'm familiar with doing wire mesh to support fresias, but I haven't seen it on sunflowers before. best of luck !

    It is called hortonova netting. It keeps the flowers from falling over when they get top heavy. I have another video about it. Couldn’t live without the netting

    I am a home gardener. I tend to let annual branching sunflowers grow wherever a seed may have fallen before the birds had eaten them all. This year a few popped up in my winter squash bed and are already starting to shade the squash. Can I remove the lower branches to open up the area to more light? Will the plant continue to branch at the top? Thanks!

    They are wonderful! The seed is from Syngenta. I think they can be purchased online. I will see what I can find out since this is a trial for them.

    Wow great video. Now a subsrcriber to 1818 Farms. Liked it so much bought some Sunfinity Seeds for this year's garden. . Two questions please...1. what is the purple red plant in back of the Sunifity rows? 2. Probably a stupid question but, do the Sunfinity plants produce seeds? Thanks

    So happy that you enjoyed the video! The plants behind them are Amaranthus - Velvet Curtains. We love it in bouquets and dried. Sunfinity doesn’t produce seeds. I believe because it is a hybrid and patented.

    You mentioned not a lot of pollen on the Syngenta sunflower. So if I am interested in planting flowers for the bees, this probably isn't a good choice? Are Syngenta zinnias low pollen as well? Thanks so much.

    We pinch all branching sunflowers. You wouldn’t pinch any other type.

    This is new to my farm, I didn’t know I needed to pinch my sunflowers. What do I do now? They are about 5’ tall and we have only about 6 weeks left in our season for flowers. Should I just let them branch and cut from that or should I pinch anyway? I would hate to miss having flowers.

    I know pinching is scary. I try to only cut the ones with the kiss. Wish that I could see a photo. Once you make the pinch the other stems will grow!

    I planted a couple of sunflowers last year. Very tall with very big heads. The squirrels bit off the heads and ate all the seeds. I have all sorts of varieties this year but am afraid the squirrels will get them again. What can I do to protect my sunflowers?

    I have a question.....I don't know what to do! I found these beautiful mini sunflowers in a pot and LOVE them, had to have them, however, I don't have live plants and not sure how to care for them. Do I leave them in their pot outside all year? Do I need to plant them in the ground and put stakes behind them to help support them as they grow? HELP!!

    You could try and bring it inside. It will need full sun. They have to be planted each Summer.

    Hi, I have bunnies that like to eat my small sunflowers. I lost maybe 2/3 of my seedlings now. Do they stop eating it once it gets to a certain size? Or it’s going to be a continuous problem?

    I have never grown that variety. However I always pinch any branching sunflowers that we grow.

    I grew the Sunfinity as well this year and pinched them but my plants are branching out with very short stems. It's full of blooms but I cannot use them in bouquets sadly. Any tips?

    @@1818Farms I believe I have a few varieties. Italian White, Russian mammoth, lemon something. I have so many packages that I'm not sure what I put in each pod.

    Yes, they are expensive. Unsure if the pricing will change after the trial. To put it in perspective we have already cut over 600 usable sunflowers in 14 days. Incredible yield. This is probably why the cost is so much.

    These are hybrid patented seeds. You can’t harvest the seed from them like an heirloom.

    The Sunfinitys are hybrids and patented. I don’t believe that you can save the seeds of these.

    I would Google Sunfinity sunflowers. My seeds were from Syngenta cut flowers. Other companies may carry them.
