Does scothguard sun protection spray work for fake flowers

I have been doing this for my front porch and steps for years! also I change out my mom's flowers at the cemetery often,she was a great lover of all things that grow, so frequently her flowers still looked new when I changed them,so I made arrangements and put them out by the bench in the yard where we often sat together and talked. It helped my heart and the yard!

Patsy, faux flowers I think is the only way to go. LOL I do much better with them, that is for sure, at least I don't kill them like I do real flowers. And that is absolutely true they're probably the best idea for cemeteries. And I'm sure your mother is looking down from heaven enjoying every moment of them. you are so smart! every tutorial I have seen say foam instead of dirt BUT the wind will blow the basket away. You are SO RIGHT

I love that you coordinated the colors of the flowers and the pillows. My family makes fun of me because I'm so matchy matchy but it really is aesthetically pleasing to the eye when you look at everything. I use dollar store plastic ferns and flowers to mix in with real items. And I get alot of compliments. People don't realize plastic is mixed in most of the time.

I'm with you, I really think your patio furniture cushions should coordinate with your flower choices, at least somewhat. Thank you Jan! I used to do the same thing not putting enough Greens in my plants , and It never truly looked right and I couldn't figure it out why. And then it suddenly dawned on me I did not have enough green. So truthfully this is my first year of actually adding all of this green , wow what a difference it makes and when I discovered those $0.97 Boxwoods that was it, it has changed my flower-arranging forever. Thank you Ant's Place, it really is starting to look bright and cheerful , I just wish the leaves on my trees with come in , they're very slow this year , it's a little strange. But yeah try planting fake flowers, especially if you are not very good at making real plants grow. I get so tired of spending good money on real plants, just for me to kill them, about a month later, by not watering them properly, I either water them too much or not enough. Thank you Diane, they do save money in the long run. I love the fake flowers, and they don't die at least for a couple years anyway. And some of them they fade in the sun, just get some spray paint of the color of the flower and freshen it up that way. It truly works. Very beautiful, I think you did a wonderful job! I am doing this for the first time. I got some large plastic planters and some concrete blocks to weigh them down so the wind doesn't blow everything away. I don't want to use dirt because everything around here is just grass and concrete so I wouldn't know what to do with all that dirt once the season ends and I don't want to keep it when I'm done because I don't want to attract bugs (or whatever) while everything sits in the garage for a year. I got all my flowers at the dollar store. Just waiting for all the rain to stop to put everything outside and I'm really excited about it! Thank you so much for your great ideas.

Thank you my dear, that's a great idea to weight it down and maybe use a styrofoam block on top of the concrete blocks so it will hold and stay solid and firm and keep the wind from blowing them away. Thank you Sheri, it seems like if I didn't have my fake flowers out this year for Spring, Colorado doesn't seem to have one. Nothing is blooming hardly at all no tree leaves and very few flowers. And the flowers that are blooming now, usually bloom in early April. It is strange around here this year . Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed watching this. I actually do not have a window box in order to show how to make one. But I would think it would be the same way just spread it out through the length of a window box. And maybe get longer trailing vines that would hang down like Ivy or something like that in the artificial flowers. Maybe this summer I can pull together some kind of a window box Style video. no promises though . Thank you so much for watching. You take care and God bless.❤🌷💐

Charlotte, I am so glad that this video was able to help you. I kill flowers really quick as well. Not everyone has a green thumb. So I made this video for those of us that have two black thumbs but still want to have the feel and look of flowers in our garden. Had little success with keeping real flowers in outside large urns last spring. Thinking of doing this, however here in the South we get HEAVY rains often. Concerned the pots would gush over with water and everything would move around, winding up looking pretty bad. Couldn't take them in and out when thunderstorns, since urns are HEAVY.

I have found that the artificial flowers hold up pretty good during storms as long as the stems are deep enough in the soil. Every place has different weather patterns and so who knows what it would be like somewhere else. Thanks for watching you take care and God bless🌷💐

The fake flowers actually hold up extremely well in the heavy wind. You just need to have your pot heavy enough that the wind don't blow the pots all over. Thanks for watching you take care and God bless.♥🌷💐

I have 2 urns under an awning that I usually buy real flowers for but keeping them watered is a pain. I decided today I will use artificial flowers this year. I checked Amazon and read reviews for most realistic as I've used dollar store before and they looked too fake. My order will be in this weekend so thanks for the tips to prepare me.

You can do it! I find what makes any flowers look more realistic is if you have a lot of greenery around the Flowers.⚘️🌷🪻💐

I use a wire-cutter to separate the plant stems from the base so that I can spread them out and put them where I want.

I do that normally when I'm doing a flower arrangement. But I thought in the outdoor planters.The wind might take the separate individual flower stems Out and blow them away. I figured left in the full Bush, They were a little heavier and would maybe hold up longer. But if yours holds up to the weather and wind , then I will give that a try. Thank you for your suggestion. Great video, but I have yet to find any artificial plants and flowers that will not fade in the sun sadly.

sharee playle 0 seconds ago I heard that the flowers have to be plastic or pvc or else the sun will bleach them white.. I’m looking at doing a basket on my pool deck does flowers get so hot they die. Are you suggesting that dollar store flowers are the way to go?

Sharee, I have used any flowers it didn't matter to me, and yes they do Fade however if you buy some anti-fading spray that they have on the market it should help keep it from fading too quickly. I've had it in extreme 100° weather and they still look beautiful. All I can say is give it a try and see what it does for your setting. Thanks for watching you take care and God bless.♥🌷💐

Does scothguard sun protection spray work to keep them from fading I just put some in baskets and planter on my porch

Kelly, I really don't know if Scotchgard sun protection would work. I have never tried to scratch gard my flowers before, but that is a great idea. I'm going to have to give it a try sometime myself and see if it actually works. I think I have heard some people say there is a product out that protects the flowers all the way around. And the name of it escapes me but what comes to my mind is Never Wet I'm not sure if that is correct though. So give it a try I hope it works for you let me know if it does help. There is a UV spray for plastic flowers so they do not fade. How did color hold up?

I found the flowers without any spray to help it out last for about 2 to 2 1/2 years as long as you put them away in the fall. Some flowers do better than others. I have not tried the spray so I don't know how well that helps, but I should look into it myself. Thanks for watching you take care and God bless.

I also have a question 🙋🏽‍♀️? I’m trying to start my flower bed but the previous owner had a flower bed with rocks and it’s literally taking me forever to take it out. Now my question is would I need to take them all out before I lay the mulch or can I just place the mulch over them?

My dear, I'm truly not sure, I'm really not a very good gardener. But if it was me, I think I would put weed block down on top of the rocks and then put the mulch on it. Because mulch will break down and become dust after a few years, and this way if you have a problem, maybe you can lift the mulch and take the old mulch out before we reapplying new, and then it won't get mixed down in the rocks in your garden. And whether this is the right way to do it I don't know. I can't tell you the true correct way other than to remove the rocks. And that's a lot of work. I hope this idea helps you. Clear matte spray paint will do the same get it real cheap give it a light spray and there you go

No, unfortunately I don't, I made this video about 4 years ago. but the flowers I got some of them from Dollar Tree And Walmart., I don't know if you can still find them, but I'm sure you can Find lots of flowers that look as nice at those stores. Since most fake flowers and greens come from chins we will be running out of them in a short while from the dollar tree and well anywhere they are being sold. So get yours while you can and do not order over E-bay if they are dirrect from China. you may never get them. I am still waiting on mine still on order since November 2019? Julie your fake flowers looks so real, they must be UN-Real. Love ya, Kid.

Buy sand to fill baskets it is cheaper

Yes if you have to buy stuff to put in the baskets it would be cheaper and it would hold up just as well. I personally dug dirt and rocks out of my backyard, but if you need to get something to fill it definitely use sand. Thanks for watching you take care and God bless.

Thanks you for watching Victor, I know my video isn't for everyone, cuz most people really do like real flowers. And in fact I would prefer real flowers also. But I know I can't keep them alive and looking beautiful , and I hate killing flowers. So this way I have the beauty without killing the flowers.
