How to Fake Flower Arrangements in Front Yard - Four Things I Learned

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Here are four things I learned about making four fake flower arrangements for your front yard. These artificial flowers for my front yard are all from the Dollar store. The fake greenery is from Michael's.
I began making this Fake Flowers in My Front Yard video on the day Hurricane Harvey arrived into Houston. So now it's finally done. We're going to spread joy in our neighborhood by creating some DIY fake flower arrangements.
We'll also talk about proportion, perspective, color, texture, crowded fake flowers and more.

Real soil. That's the secret. Or mix it with sand. I filled my soil up 3/4 of the way. But I also put my pots near a bush so maybe that blocks some of the wind. You are off to a good start, however, there are a few things that will enhance your work. I am a professional landscape designer and this is what I do with pots. Although the ones I make up use real plants, the same rules apply with fake plants. You need a thriller, a filler and a spiller. The thriller should be tall and go in the middle (if the pot is to be seen from all sides.) If the pot goes against a wall or fence, then the thriller goes in the middle, but at the back of the pot. The filler does what it says...fills the pot. Often for impact all the same type of flower, or the same colour flower does the best job. Then the spiller is something that trails outside the pot towards the ground...think, ivy, a vine etc.. And just to be clear, although fake plants are maintenance free, there is something very special about nurturing real plants and watching them grow.

I think you would benefit from using more variations in the height of the flowers. In this video, most of the flowers ended up being about the same height as each other, with spiky things behind them. I recommend googling some Japanese flower arrangements, that will give you a good feel for what I felt might help. Also, it's your arrangement, and your yard. Not trying to tell you how to live your life. I just figured this might strike some new creative spark for you :)
