Thank you for this video. I was struggling on what to do with the Aloes I just received from the mail. Two medium ones arrived melted, now enjoying afterlife. The bigger one has two rotted leaves and seems like just started a root rot😔 Now deciding if I should cut it or keep it (roots)

Cut of any rot you come across or it will spread.

I placed the Aloe Vera in a shaded area where it gets very minimal sun, so I didn't water it until it started growing roots in two weeks. The water stored in its leaves can sustain the plant while it is rooting. If you want to place your cuttings in full sun, then a little water can help when the soil gets really dry after one week.

Is the sand moist? Or do you water it whilst waiting for the roots to develop?

I water the plants when it has roots already.

So, for the first two week when the plant is resting on dry soil, you don't water at all?

what is the composition of the soil.?

I had to do this to a few aloes I saved and now they went from dry, brown, burned to green, growing and thriving. They now have thick roots and took well to the repot after. Now the leaves are fatter and thicker. I also water mine every other day.

Unless they live in very hot conditions don't water them that often. They're used to desert conditions.

I have a huge aloe plants with lots of babies that has been grown big already since its hard to separate from the mother plant I cut the roots and plant it right away deep in the soil and I don't water them form 2-3 weeks until aloe establish its roots on the soil.

Im curious, what Will happen If you bury the cutting in moist soil instead ? Will they also grow roots? Ive Been doing what you did in the video but it takes more than 4 weeks to grow roots

The amount of time for them to grow roots is just the same, only that burying them will have high chances of rotting, and when it does, growing roots will take more time.

@@TheAloeVeraGarden Thankyou for the reply. I discovered that when you bury them a Little Bit in slightly moist soil , the roots grow faster compared to just putting them On top Of soil. But take note the soil I used is semi dry to Very slightly moist only 😀

When planting w/o drying does the soil need to be wet? It looked like you put them in dry soil. Also during that 2 week period how often did you water? Thanks trying to save 2.

If you plant it right away after cutting, it is better to use dry soil or a little moist soil. You can also spray a little water when the soil gets very dry within the 2 weeks period to encourage rooting. But, even if you don't water it, the plant will still grow roots. Also, even if you water it always, as long as the soil is free from fungus, the plant will still grow roots. iv been super nervous to cut my 5 year old plant down, its gotten so tall it doesn't fit my space anymore... its an indoor plant only, is there a time of year that this would not work?

I didn't water them until they grow new roots after 2 weeks. Aloe Vera is 90% water, it can sustain itself without watering for a long time.

If you are buying soil for your aloe vera, don't but soil intended for succulents but buy regular potting mix.

I got this aloe Vera plant recently...I got it and the leaves were hanging and it had brown spots and the tips were flat...also the leaves were mushy and soft...I think it could be overwatered but the sun hasn’t shined for the past weeks...my mum said it needs water but idk...when I touched it, it came right out and had one tiny root....and the base was brown ish black...any tips?

Your plant is probably rotting as those are the signs of root rot, but I can't be sure until I see it. If you can send me a picture of your aloe vera, then I can tell what's the problem. If the plant you are cutting is used to direct sunlight, then you can place it in direct sunlight. If the plant is not used to direct sunlight, it is better to keep it in shade.

Aloe Vera doesn't like dark environment, they turn pale.

Garden soil with compost.

Once i tried to propagate my aloe vera In a Jar of water! But it eventually Rotted and died. Was it because i dipped a bit part of the plant too? My other one is Doing fine I dipped only the Roots in water:)

Pwede naman, mag change lang ang color niya dahil sa sunburn pero hayaan mo lang. Makakabawi din yan kapag may ugat na... siguro it will take two months, green na uli siya.

Kung nasa pot ang Aloe vera mo, tangalin mo yong mga supling kung may tutubo. Dapat isa lang na Aloe vera sa isang pot.

Yes, you can put it in direct sunlight. It will turn slightly brown, but there's nothing to worry, it will comes back to green when it grows enough roots. Don't put it inside your room specially if it is often dark for more than 2 weeks because it might turn yellow and weak. It would be better if you can place it in a patio, open garage, balcony, porch where it gets bright sunlight though not directly.
