    I've been using milanote for a few years now. Its great. Starting using it for game dev, now I use it for like everything, ideas for tik tok videos, documents for VO scripts, a board for Ableton and Fl studio tutorial links and hot keys to remember. Stays clean so when i go back, i dont get lost in the boards. PRO-TIP- keep it organized which it looks like i have somethings to learn from your milanote setup.

    The pre production part of using Milanote is why I love it so much, but if you don’t keep it organized it can be a lot (tho for some that’s ok!)

    @@orithekidd I just noticed that you can color the colums now. Not just the top strip but the whole column. Maybe I didnt get that email but its good to know they are making updates since they seem a lot more quiet than other web apps ive used, emails daily.

    Been watching a lot of your videos lately, and I just wanna say that they're all great and super informative! I have a hard time staying motivated on one project for too long myself, so having a video like this to lay out a method to help negate that really helps!

    I loved milanote but I didn't really feel like paying per month kind of feeling like I'd lose all my game docs if I stop paying. A great alternative is a mix of Obsidian and Miro.

    I’ve been using the free version of Milanote for a while and I never had it delete all my info. I should definitely look into obsidian and miro. I’ve have a couple people mention it.

  • @maxelized

    @@orithekidd They won't delete, but I felt the limited amount of free content wasn't enough to be usable. Miro is very good for visual stuff (infinite canvas), and obsidian is an offline Onenote, but better. Milanote would've probably been my choice if I went for paid because of the wikipedia aspect seemed intuitive and fast.

    Late, but if you stop paying you won't lose anything :) I've been paying for Milanote for months now, one of those months I had problems and couldn't pay. My things were all there, I could edit them if I wanted to as well. I just couldn't add anything new, because I was over the free limit. But nothing is deleted.

    Hi there! Just figured out your channel and found it very interesting. Milanote seems very limiting when you're keeping the free version, as far as I understand it, Notion became free for personnal use? But the methodology stays great, so thanks for the intel!

    Great video, although if you're not worrying about how or how long things will take, how will you deliver the games you want to make?

  • @orithekidd

    @orithekidd

    Good point. I think what I mean was stressing about the time will only make the development process worse so it’s important to focus on taking your time to make a good product. If you deliver on a scheduled time and it wasn’t ready then you have a rushed game released on time. I’d rather a great delayed game than a terrible rushed one, but that’s just how I see it

    Personally found this video hard to follow. The things you put on screen and the things you say are so disconnected. In 3:12, you mentioned this giant board of images and yet not a single footage of you importing an image exists. In 3:43, you praise how good the sharing feature is but never actually showed it in action. Then there are areas in the video where the footage is straight up uninteresting. For example in 4:15 there is 10 seconds of an empty canvas in the sprite editor while you talk about something completely unrelated to it.

    Thank you for the feedback! Personally this video was more of a short filler to help people check out a useful tool that was helpful for me. Since I’m currently not in my home country it’s a bit harder to edit with lots of interesting B-Roll. I completely agree that the video in general is a bit disconnected and I want to make a longer follow up video that goes way more in-depth with planning (from beginning to end). I also appreciate that you can actually tell quality vs. something I simply wanted to spit out. Will definitely take note and apply this critique to the next video!
