Recently I’ve taken a liking to the idea of doing paint and body. If i can do it, I’ll be the one to open that portion of his shop again and I’ll be doing something i love. @@rickbendi8709 I think it was in the 1980s, EPA was out to remove lead and chrome from paints, lots of pressure to go to water thinnable paints. Car paint was also adversely affected, lot of scale and peeling. Brushes arent the same either. We washed in spirits, then kept in motor oil or mineral oil, one guy used lard, rats ate the hairs, i miss those Russian squirrel hair brushes. Ah, to be 60 again....👍👍🙏

Hey, question here if I may. I bought a harley with black denim paint and some pin striping on it that is fading. How do you safely remove the striping without hurting the bike paint?
@rickbendi8709
2 жыл бұрын
I used oven cleaner in the past. But I’m NOT sure what it would do to the denim paint job. ( I’m assuming that’s satin ) I would try a small spot somewhere that’s not noticeable . Other wise go to a body shop you trust and they might be able to buff it off. If you use oven cleaner ….mask out the area, wear gloves and mask , don’t get it anywhere you don’t want it! It’s nasty . Leave it on for a few minutes, rub it off and repeat if necessary. Then wash it with water. Water neutralize it. ( on a shiney finish, you can buff it back to life if it fills dulls down , butt I’m not sure about the denim finish ). I would try the body shop first. They know paint. Thanks for watching

@rickbendi8709
2 жыл бұрын
I don’t own anything but Mack swords. My favorite is a “ Hanson mack 13 “ double 00. Try to use more of the tip of the brush when doing scrolling, the shorter hairs toward the heal of the brush will not fan out. When your doing longer lines without scrolls you can lay the whole brush down then ease up and just use the font end for your turns. It’s a feel. You’ll get there. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching

Practice on something first. Get comfortable with the brush and paint. If you like the way it’s going then do the car. Make sure the car has no wax. ( clean it with mineral spirits) while the paint is still wet you can remove the mistake with mineral spirits and a rag. Don’t get discouraged. It took me a long time to achieve the quality I wanted. Hey, question here if I may. I bought a harley with black denim paint and some pin striping on it that is fading. How do you safely remove the striping without hurting the bike paint?
@rickbendi8709
