Whenever my cat is asleep i either dont mess with it or scratch it behind the ears, he wakes up looks at me, and then decides this is an acceptable alternative to sleep

Here’s a tip: Make sure to blink slowly and get on their level , and if your standing then make sure that your hand doesn’t come from above because it reminds them of birds coming down to get them, I hope that made sense-

I find slow blinking is also key - shows you trust them, are interested but not chasing them. The hand can also mean thing to bite, so that comes after cat approaches.

My cats love pets. One of them usually gets a bit spooked cos she's a tad jumpy but after the initial "wtf is that" she's fine T'other one doesn't give a shit. She usually dodges ur hand like fuckin Neo unless she wants to be fussed. At which point the only thing that'll move her is food 🤣

I just grab onto the scruff of its neck nice and hard and then pick it up and swing it around a little. Then I usually stick its head in my armpit because the darkness calms them down. Seriously it works every time, show it who is boss then calm it down. After that you just feed it and take it back to your house and put a new collar on it. Congratulations you now own a cat.

When I was younger, I had a cat which was deaf and whenever she was sleeping I would shake her, waking her up, but she still purred anyway. I give her a lot of respect for putting up with me.

Rules: 1. No touch paws, belly, (less commonly disliked) neck and chin 2. No staring as it's a sign of aggression between cats 3. Stop what you're doing if their tail is wagging bc they're upset 4. If you don't pass their personal vibe check leave them alone 5. Be gentle

They also have very sensitive nerve endings on their back by their tail, only certain cat's like being petted there. If you pet your cat there and they sort of wig out or start making weird faces then don't pet them there because they can barely stand it. Not all cats though some like it. Never pet their stomachs unless you know they like it either. It really all depends on the cat.

@@nyancat.123 I honestly think that the people who say "cats are mean, they dont let you pet them, they scratched me, or bit me" it kinda sus of the person. I adopted a cat last year after having my dogs stolen. I was always a dog person who wasn't fond of cats.At the time I wanted a furry companion that was more independent and not as needy as dogs. A companion who would just kinda be there chilling and let me pet it at least once a day. Then I adopt Pixie (my cat) and holy shit.... I wasn't expecting a cat to be so chatty, constantly pull at my hand for attention when I'm sitting on a chair, and sleep right next to my face. I was expecting a teenager who would just do their own thing, not a needy and chatty cat. I love her though and she is the best thing that has happened to me last year ever since I lost my dogs.

Amy M and Evycakez have my upmost respect. (As a cat lover who hates when people say “I hate cats because this cat bit me!”) And then I asked what did they do before and they said they sprayed the cat with water. For no reason. (Actual conversation with my cousin)
