How To Perform Good Mornings (STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL)

Спорт

Dr. Aaron Horschig is joined by ‪@olustrong-nigeriasstronges372‬ in today's tutorial for the good morning exercise. This is an excellent lift to help you improve posterior chain (glutes and hamstring) strength along with core stability.

I really love olu's energy. He had so much to say. And also think it's great that Aaron let him talk. This video had the same vibe as a conversation rather than a lecture. Love how it turned out.

Hey Aaron, big fan of your work. I am really glad to see you cover good mornings and general hamstring pathologies. I have noticed that, quality hamstring related rehab seems to be lacking on youtube and I always love how you break down the approaches to isolate issues into specific causes, so perhaps this is a great area to invest in, content-wise? As a 6'8 beginning athlete, I'm often worried about lifts such as barbell rows or good mornings - due to the amount of sheer force that can be placed on the spine because of the "long levers". Would be excellent if you could provide general advice for taller athletes regarding these exercises and/or the best way to execute them, etc. :)

Another great video. Can I ask, other than the variation for where the weight is positioned, are the coaching points the same for both the Good Morning and the Romanian Deadlift in terms of the movement or are there other differences?

If you do any Olympic weightlifting then these are a must to build that upper back stability under load. However, the risk to rewards is too high for just hypertrophy benefits which the Romanian Deadlift already covers as you'll end up doing upper back work anyways during back and pull days.

I like doing 20 reps sets immediately following heavy squats and or deadlifts - to decompress. It works incredible for recovery at 53 yrs old. Good morning and lunges are the #1 exercises to increase for squat / deadlift.

I’ve just started doing these this week with an empty bar after another muscle pull in the lower back during Deadlifts at the weekend. With this injury recurring every 5 months sporadically, I’m going to have to drop the deadlift (sadly) from my routine and I’m looking for alternative hip hinge / hams workouts.
