My in-laws told us and others they had a college fund for 18 years… when the big day came to write us checks for our two kids….. drum roll….. $150/kid. $300 total. Grandparents: It’s better to not mention it and surprise your kids and grandkids with a college fund just in case you don’t get around to saving.

@@HisDudeness_69 Their kid went to private college in the 90s. That costed what public universities do now. There is no surprise other than maybe how fast the years flew by! 🙂

@@tmusa2002 I mean…. Depending on where they lived $150 still may have been enough for a car back in their day. Also public uni tuition costs have rose an average of 140% nationwide since 2000 so idk where you’re getting your information from but you’re off by a long shot girlfriend

loved this video Kate!! I’d also like to emphasize that merit scholarships are usually based on grades, test scores, and academic performance and not necessarily extracurriculars/resume :)

How does FAFSA count money in an irrevocable trust? Our child has money in a trust that they cannot access until they are 25. It was funded by a lawsuit. Can they count money that is inaccessible?
