Awesome job, the door looks great! I doubt most people we be able to appreciate the amount of work you actually put into this door. Love the attention to detail you gave. Most people would have skipped sanding and using primer.

Thank you Tyia, I appreciate it! If you have any peeling or rough spots I would certainly sand as your finished product will only be as good as your prep work. If all looks great and you just want to change the color you will be fine with a couple good coats of Stix primer first. Good luck and let me know how it turns out. 👍

How do you stop the paint from sticking to the door seal once it is shut against it? looks fantastic .

Thanks for watching and I appreciated the comment. If you apply the plastic sheeting and then follow the paint times in the video it will allow the paint to dry and you can close the door without anything sticking. Let me know if you have any other questions. 👍

Hi Danny, I appreciate you watching and the comment. Welcome to the channel. Yes in my instance it would have been tight but I do feel that I would have covered both sides with 1 qt. Note that coverage depends on the texture and porosity of the substrate, application method, and waste. This product is great for almost anything and I would have picked up 2 qts vs the risk of running out as I could use it on other projects. I noticed that you didn’t apply a top coat like poly urethane. With the elements harsh on the door, is this a step you’d recommend? If so, what kind? I’m assuming water based. Thank you

Would you do the same process for a metal door? I have a metsl front door that is painted high gloss black paint. I plan to repaint it Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore Black.

This black paint you use is Black matte or Black Shine?

Thanks for watching. It’s a Black Satin (little easier to wipe clean than a matte, but doesn’t have as much shine as a gloss). I would highly recommend to use the primer I have linked in the description first. 👍

Did you need to keep the door open to dry at the end?

Yes, put the pastic up, start earlier in the day, allow 4 hours of dry time between coats, and I applied two coats of paint so the door could be closed and home secured at night. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching.

How much did you charge? Three days to paint one door sounds very expensive.

To avoid roller stipple it’s important to use the correct roller cover, use a high quality paint and roller, apply the correct roller technique, and allow for the correct dry time before applying additional coats.
