How to paint the Norn Emissary for Tyranids in

#warhammer40k #tabletopgaming #tyranids
Everyone was talking abut this model when it was shown off...mostly because none of us could work out its size, but also because it is damn epic. Thanks to ‪@officialwarhammer‬ I got my hands on all the new Tyranids and I promised you the Norn Emissary was coming! A day earlier than planned to clear some time ahead of my 12 hour stream tomorrow (September 9th) As with the rest of my Tyranids I used my own custom scheme for this but you can easily follow the same steps and apply the the other schemes I have tutorials for already! I've put out 8 Tyranid schemes now, 7 on my channel, and 1 on Patreon, including this, my custom Hive Fleet Morrigan!
Hope you enjoy and as always, ask me any questions you like!

My custom Hive Fleet Morrigan paint list:
Primers:
Chaos Black
Grey Seer (lighter coat)
FAQ:Adding a light spray of Grey Seer over a full coat of black primer adds a small amount of texture to the primer which gives the contrast paint more to grip on to. It also adds light and shadows which helps define the model more.
Guilliman Flesh (contrast)
Carroburg Crimson (shade)
Screaming Skull (layer)
Wraithbone (layer)
Stegadon Scale Green (base)
Altaitoc Blue (base)
Doombull Brown (layer)
Rattling Grime (contrast)
Volupus Pink (contrast)
Wraithbone (layer)
Use your favourite pure white for any white steps
Ironjawz Yellow (contrast)

This was recommended to me on redit and man it did not disapoint. Ive been staring at my norn for the last while trying to figure out the "skin" portions and was drawing a blank. All my nids are different but i think this will be the way forward for the skins. Always been the hardest for me. Sharp sharp and so creepy theres a point when its done and you show the right side and i get that unerving feeling looking at it

Obviously fantastic work...selfishly I would still love to see you do the other schemes of yours on large models....I chose third one you did with the ratling grime followed by the blue shade and it'd be great to see a large model enhancement of that scheme...selfish of me as it wouldn't match the rest of your army, but I'd get to see the one or two additional steps for the chitchin etc. Great work though dude, nailed it and the skin is superb.

Love it. Coming from a procrastinator, I like to see someone who gets stuff done. Personally I think this is the best Nid I've seen you do so far. Not that you did anything different it just came together really well. Thought Deathleaper was a bit nice as well. I kind of think the space in a bigger model helps the colours contrast with each other. So even though it's the same technique because it's bigger and allows more space for the colours to contrast with each other and therefore looks better. What do you think of that assessment?

Amazing as usual Andy👍🏻I’d love to know how long each stage and then total time you take to finish your model. I think I spend too much time on each stage when I’m painting. Good luck for your 12 hour stream tomorrow- my youngest has 3 friends staying over and there are 4 Rugby World Cup games to watch so I’ll have minimum hobby time. I’ll drop in and out of your stream to check your progress. I reckon you’ll be done in 10 hours 😊

Have you got any paint recommendations for a lighter skin tone on this for Hive Fleet Leviathan? I was thinking Pallid Wych Flesh as the first drybrush but not sure how well it'll work. Guilliman flesh has more red tones in it, best thing to do would be test it on a small area where you can easily cover it or maybe on a spare model if you have one? If you decide to go with skeleton horde though it will still look great, just not the exact tone here but you can always use what you have instead of buying new paints for every tutorial, it can get expensive 😄

I bought Leviathan specifically because of this video but trying to get drybrushing results similar to yours has been a NIGHTMARE. It always looks so dusty and either I have to put so little paint on the brush that it takes a full minute to get any kind of color whatsoever on the tiniest little portion of the model, or I add a tiny bit more paint and it just covers the entire surface, obliterating all the great colors underneath. It's like no matter what I do, what kind of ratio of paint and how dry or moist my brush & paint are, it always looks like I just sprayed it with water and dunked it in sand. It's incredibly disheartening. I don't suppose there are any tips you could give, or is drybrushing something that you just have to get a feel for?

Great - if not insane - work. I take offense to your statement " There is nothing natural about this thing" though. It is 100% nature at work. The creature is there to survive and expand.. Sound kind of familiar? It is not moving in any other direction than forward. While humanity - even in this future - is still moving in each and every direction. Nature just IS..
