Thanks for the tutorial. Probably one of the best I have run across. Very professional results.
Saved as well! Thanks for all the tutorials this year!
great video mate I'm saving this one on my playlist. thank you!
Many Thanks! I wanted to paint the Logo of my DeWalt radio, well, not very perfect as the new one but really very beautiful result! I started with the yellow, clear, and today the black. For the black i used black water colour and a small paint brush and not a black spray can, the clear on the yellow needs one month to get dry well, also the thinner on 1K clear can be little risky . So, i did it carefully with the brush, it took me around half an hour but that's ok, I cleaned carefully my small mistakes with a soft sanding pad (light gray), and Voila! Really Nice! One thin lay of clear now and is done.
It's like a Guinness commercial....BRILLIANT!!
Love your videos been watching them for few years now use it as a guide for my own projects keep making videos amazing painter
Definitely gonna use this technique!! I’ve actually got some engine covers to paint soon too!
Absolutely brilliant. Learn something new everyday
Well done mate .great job and vid...you make it look easy ...
Hi Dave. I just tried your method and it turned out beautifully. Thanks mate! It was a little tedious, slowly cleaning up each letter, but the end result was smick! Thanks again.
Just about to paint this exact engine cover.. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for taking the time to share.awesome time saver on badges.👍
This was a great video. I wanted to restore an emblem with raised lettering and if I hadn't seen this vid I'd STILL be trying to mask it all. Thanks.
Dude.. So simple it's genius!
I was using plastic wrap cutting with an exacto knife and the result was awful. This is a genius method. Thank you!
Always something new for me . Thx
Never ever ever would I have figured that out, brilliant.
Wow that's looking amazing!
Work smarter, not harder! Nicely done!

What a great job nice trick 👍
That turned out great!
Somewhere between last year's uploads and this year's uploads would make for a perfect 2019 year. I miss your content volume, but can understand being busy. Merry Christmas!
Great video thank you for uploading
Nice tip I thought he was gonna tape over the letters but this method is much better
Awesome. I use Chapstick on the raised letters after they are painted then remove with Q-Tip. Great Job.

Is that a form of wax, similar to using oil so that paint does not stick? Great idea. Painters may find Chapstick or other oils to cause an unwanted reaction with paint and clear.
Dave, Would you rather paint plastics with the clear method or the high build primer? This looks much easier.
Great Video, Have not used that method before, thanks.
Jesus man thank you brilliant video
I m watching your videos long time now.You have helped me a lot.You are great.Greetings from Greece.

Seriously nice.
Very cool trick. Thanks.
Awsome video this is what I am doing to my 2jz spark plug cover, except I laid copper then am spraying midnight purple and gonna expose the copper color.
Great work. Thanks
I have sinked lettering so I need to reverse painting order but thanks for uploading this, I got the idea from it.
Happy Holidays!
Genius idea!

Brilliant 👍🏻
Wow thank you mate
wow. nice trick
Very cool, thanks doing some lettering on a motorcycle plastic
Nice and clean looks really gud...you think this technique would work on two tone rims
Great job !!! The 2k clean before painting the base black, is a primer or varnish?
Great video mate....Can you tell me what paint clear do you use? From the Gold Coast
this stuff is brilliant ! how on earth does one come up with this
Perfect
Make sure you have the right grit of sandpaper. Too gritty will leave marks. Make sure to remember about the solvent resistant paint.
Great video, one quick question! When you take the black off the raised area is the black still wet or have you let it dry? Cheers
awesome
Really great video. Can I ask what type of paint thinner you used for the lettering reveal? I’m not in an English speaking country so the chemical name would be great! Thanks
Great Job! Do you see any problems with using this method over MDF?Cheers,
Herrlich, danke
Great
Wicked!
Do you have to sand the raised letters before applying the second color? Thanks.
Thanks.
Do you use the paint thinner on the raised lettering right after you spray a coat without drying or after you’ve done all (3) coats and it being dry?
Nice
Nice, will this type paint work on steel valve covers? Seems to me I need high temp engine paint?
how much time (for drying time) between spraying black overlay and removing black on raised letters with thinner? Are you heat/baking any of these covers or just drying them in ambient room temp in booth?
I need to know what final clear you used!! Did you add the sparkles or buy it pre made?
I’ve got some raised letters that I need to keep chrome. Would this be the same process just rub letters with paint thinner after primer/paint/clear? Will it hurt the chrome at all?
Great video! Did you let the top color dry before wiping it off with thinner?

sed6 yes dry overnight.
Can you do this over a aluminum valve cover?
So are all 2K clear heat resistant? and what about the base colours, do they need to be heat resistant too?
Will this method work with fresh 3-D printed ABS? (I use the same style ABS as most car parts to ensure durability). I ask due to, i want my letters to "pop" on the parts i just made and have never tried doing such an intricate paint scheme.
hey there. exactly which spray paint cans which you recommend using here that are sold on your website? it’s all a bit confusing because there are so many different types. which spray cans exactly? if i wanted to go with black engine cover with white raised letters with a clear coat obviously? thanks
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Did you rub down inbetween all the letters before the black coat? Or just around the letters?
Hi im going to try and paint the sprocket cover plate in black and do the letters in gold, any advice on this as the letters are inverted cheers for any advice.
Will this technique work on metal parts also. I have a Bridgeport mill and On the front of the machine there is this nice Bridgeport raised lettering inside of an oval circle. The entire part is chrome or polished aluminum . My old machine has the same logo but the the background behind the letters are painted black making the letters really pop out.. I want to make my new machine look like this.
Looks great Have you got a way of getting a two tone on a car with one being a gloss 2 pac clear over base and one being a matt clear over a base? Without getting a big ugly edge?

Loco Fab I want to try that.
This is the first I've heard of 2K clear. Does that imply that it's heat resistant to 2000 degrees? Fabulous tutorial, though. Many good techniques with broad application for many painted parts. Especially helpful were the summary explanations at the end and how the same techniques can be used with spray can products.

the 2K means it is a 2 part paint - it has a hardener that makes it much more durable than typical 1K (1 part) paint - auto paint is 2K which is why it is as durable as it is. Depending on the clear coat used it will be resistant to X temperature but you'd get that from the TDS (tech sheet) on the 2k clear you use.
Might be a stupid question, but you let the paint dry completely before going at it with the paint stripper right?
Will this also work on metal parts?
This is good if you have a spray gun wasting clear and base coat system. But what about spray can?
hey mate great video i have a pair of calipers with raised letters i plan to paint and this method is justbrillant. Just one question mate, as i am plan to use off the shelf caliper paint products like dupli colour, which i think are acrylic based paints would this same method work with them?

nightwolveX yes but not with paint thinners. Carful sanding would be the way to go.
