I have done 16 paintings thus far, and I still am terrible, BUT I do see improvement every painting :) My painting goal is to get good enough to have my paintings hang in someone's living room. Once I achieve that, I want to make 7 paintings and give them to my 7 grand daughters so they have something from me to remember me by. Heck these paintings can last a couple of centuries supposedly. Anyway I digress. Thanks again for the tutotial.

    How do you hold the pallet knife if you’re missing your pointer finger

  • @WildCreates

    @WildCreates

    Жыл бұрын

    With respect... If you have a short finger or nub you can just rest it where the blade meets the handle ( what I call the base ). If you have no finger... just shift the remain fingers up the handle closer to the base. This way you have more support and control. That should work perfectly. I hope that helps.

  • @thesimpfan

    @thesimpfan

    I’m sure Wild will chime in here, but try angling your knife outward more. Don’t keep it flat against the canvas as you pull down. See if that helps. Good knife technique takes a lot of practice. You’ll get better. Also try experimenting with the amount of pressure you’re using. Too light can also be detrimental.

  • @WildCreates

    @WildCreates

    Жыл бұрын

    Very common for painters, I will give you 2 nuggets at the end but first: 1) load the knife evenly and make sure the roll is on the end of your blade and not pushed back. 2) You are most likely leaving your knife too flat when you approach the canvas and pull down. Come at it with a higher angle (like almost close to 75 degrees) then flatten out as you come down. 3) Re-watch the part in this video where I show the touch to get the paint to stick then go back to go down. This will help you not apply all the paint at once. Now Practice doing all that after you watch these 2 videos below. Then you will nail it. - Practice: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2Rs19dulLS3j8Y.html - Slice snow: kzread.infoNuab4KRa3RE

  • @WildCreates

    YES! Don't be too flat at the start of application. It takes a while to find the right pressure. Like I say its all about finding that constant pressure and flow.
