You've got class. Spending the same attention to detail and care for a manufactured home as you would a stick built. There are a lot of people that have pride in their homes that may not have the resources to invest or improve as much as the folks that they show on the home improvement shows. Thank you, Sir.
I just finished painting my first home I decided to spray. it was extremely fast. first sprayed the ceiling with basically reckless abandon then sprayed the trim with slightly more control (wait 1w for the paint to cure) then spent a day taping and masking the ceiling with plastic sprayed the entire place the next afternoon
Live in Florida, 💯, moved and wired my own switches. Learned something new today. 😆
Great videos. Very informative. I put my foot in my mouth 5yrs. Told the wife I'd paint the whole house if I had a paint sprayer 🤦🏾🤦🏾 well that Xmas she bought me one...still in the box n spent $800 to have living room n dining room painted. Finally going to paint the kitchen with my sprayer
Perfect timing. Just about to get started painting several rooms.
I have the same sprayer and cleanup is a little time consuming, but it saves a ton of time even when using the roller attachment.
By far the best DIY channel on YT. I love this guy man, everything is just a breeze to watch. Presented in palatable manner. Thanks for everything you guys are doing and have done over the years!

I have the X5 and unless for very large paint projects, it’s a real pain to clean from start to finish. I highly recommend the TrueCoat if you want airless or one of the Wagners.
You always make my Saturday a happy evening! Thanks for the tips on this, Jeff I recommend your channel to other creators if they are doing home projects. Shivering black bell thumbs up. Cheers!

I am not far from you in FL. I went with 5/8 fire rock on the walls over the panels. Quiet, cooler, and safer. It may create an insurance discount too. Super-therm/sunshield for the roof and exterior to reduce thermal transfer.
In between coats put your sprayer tip in water to keep it from drying, I use a bucket with about 6-8 inches of water
I was literally just looking for a makeover for my woodpanel filled home ty so much!!! I have a question though, can I use a sprayer for priming/painting drywall? I'm remodeling part of my garage and I'm watching alot of your drywall vids. But if I could spray that would help out my disabled body alot.
What grit sandpaper is used to sand walls? Do you wipe them down after sanding?
Thank you for your video a couple weeks back re hex nuts and drill usage.. had to set up a new patio table probably save an hour by not using the manual hex wrench

You are so smart! I am learning so much from you. Thank you! Is there an e-mail I can ask you an electrical question? I don't want to bog down your painting video with an electrical question. :)
Jeff, I love you channel and videos. I bought my first house last year at the age of 56 and I love to do the work myself, or at least try. My question is that our house was built in 1971 and we want to update it room by room. For rooms like the living room and bedrooms, there is a very light texture/imperfection on the walls. It has popcorn ceiling, so I plan on removing or replacing that. For the walls, would I be better off hanging 1/4" sheetrock right over the current sheetrock or should I tear it out and start from scratch. I'll be adding a couple wall outlets, but that shouldn't be a concern either way. Thank you for all you do for us DIYers!
@JOIHIINI

Be careful, that ceiling is very likely asbestos ridden and removing it will turn it friable, I'd advise to look up paul decks popcorn ceiling skim coat videos. With no plastering experience I got a perfect finish on my ceiling in about 6 hours of labour time, roughly 1.5 hours per coat and an hour of scraping out the lines and sanding the final skim. Don't scrape the popcorn skim over it. Depending in your room size it'll maybe cost 100 bucks to do the whole room. Your lungs will thank you 😊
15:11 'and its such a hassle i never do it' is what they are counting on haha
Florida is so weird. This is the thing the regulate? Also, thank you. A great video as always!
Very interesting.... I've been following your lead for years, Jeff. The painful irony is that, barely a year ago I had to fix up my mother's completely dilapidated mobile, that looks unbelievable similar to what you're working on. Here's was in FL, as well, a bit further north from you (I believe) in Tavares, FL. I would love to have known how you approached the other repairs back when I was doing mine. But, I digress... I, went with the Graco ProX17 (it was on sale and much cheaper than the lower models on the shelf). Seems very well made, tons of power, and a bit of a learning curve compared to my $200 Wagner which become more. trouble than what it was worth, so I tossed it. *Did I hear you properly when you said you took a step down in power to spray the interior??? I hope that wasn't a poor decision on my part, just trying to get the best I could afford.*. On mine, I have to have the pressure set fairly high to get rid of those "fingers" on each side of the spray pattern. As a result, it seemed like there was quite a bit of over-spray floating around. Mind you I was spraying KILZ primer in a garage I'm refinishing. Would a low-pressure tip help with that? Or, is that just the nature of the beast with sprayers, and as you have said probably hundreds of times up to this point. Prep, and cover anything that super-fine overspray may land on, because that's going to happen, regardless. I also have that roller that comes with it. We have a MASSIVE amount of painting coming up, and it's entirely indoor, so I want to stay ahead of this curve, and get the most out of this sprayer.* Sorry for the novel, you're just doing a project that in many ways is right on par with what I'm doing now, and want to hit you up while you're still "on topic".
Jeff’s the man and sounds like Fred green
Any chance for good how to on Gracos smaller sprayers for guys who maybe have a room or two, or a lot of smaller painting projects, but lots of em? I have a TrueCoat 360, and i can get the job done, but the accuracy is a bit tough and im relying a lot on a good masking job.
How much paint do you run through with a sprayer? Would you waste less pain with just a roller?
Nice video.

Would your process be the same if you were using an HVLP?
I just drywalled the basement and taped and mudded, some of the walls and ceilings are going to have shiplap on them. Can the drywall be left unfinished behind the shiplap ? was worried about unprimed drywall in the basement behind the shiplap if there any moisture problems or something weird ? Cant find that answer anywhere, HOPE YOU CAN HELP! THANKS!
When would one spray vs roll? Thx

Ahh Jeff, huge no no for painters. Don’t fill nail holes with caulk. You need sherwin Williams lightweight spackle. Don’t use daps fast and final, it never dries hard, just mush

Didnt remove the shutters and paint the inside window wood trim? But great video and info.
Do you have to backroll after spraying? Or is that just for unfinished drywall? I've read youll get peeling down the road if you don't back roll or at least spray and then backroll
@jasonbarner9931
Жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert but from what i've seen / read the backrolling is mostly for coverage sake (you can get fingers from too heavy on the ends / overlapped areas) and also so the surfaces can be touched up if needed later on and there not be an obvious difference in finish - spray versus roller nap texture.
@coopaloop727272
Жыл бұрын
@@jasonbarner9931 Yea, I've just read that for new drywall if you don't roll, the paint sits on top of the raised fibers instead of penetrating into the pores. That leads to peeling down the line. Cheers
@HomeRenoVisionDIY

for drywall primer you get a better result if you push the paint into the drywall. it acts as a sealer and driving it into the paper works better for many brands out there. if you buy a drywall primer that is designed for the sprayer you don't need too. Cheers!

It's actually illegal to void a warranty based on a lack of registration. For limited-term warranties, all you need is the receipt. For lifetime, all that needs to be 'proven' is that the device wasn't misused (dropped, thrown into a cement mixer, etc). What companies CAN do is add an INCENTIVE to register. For example Rigid comes with a legally binding 3 year warranty - keep your receipt - lose that and it's then based on when that serial number was manufactured (not sold). If you register, that gets UPGRADED to Lifetime, and you no longer need your receipt, as it's tracked by serial number. So there can be BENEFITS to registering, but it can never be conditional.

Paint pro 🫡
Switches, outlets, and other receptacles that get paint on them must be replaced by code. So no, please don't paint them with spray paint. If you insist, do it with the covers on so you're less likely to get paint on the contacts.

Wood paneling is just vertical ship lap😂
@abcdefghijklmnop514

it’s not. the overlap and the depth in the “groove” is much deep for ship lap. the effect it has isn’t the same. they do make a product that has a deep groove to mimic more of a shiplap look that comes in 4x8 sheets for easier and quick install.

Can’t replace switches or outlets?? Heck with the spray paint. “That’s how they’ve always been.” Some stuff is just plain crazy. Running circuits or requiring a house, sure a permit might make sense. But a switch. Or outlet. No. Definitely not.

@@HomeRenoVisionDIY Whoa! A reply from Jeff!😎. It’s funny though that I’ve always done the same thing: Paint a room and put beautiful nice white switches and outlets back in place. Then you don’t have to worry about getting paint on your switch or outlet. Not to mention outlets should be replaced every 10-20 years depending on how much they get used. Up here in Washington State homeowners or electricians can pull a permit, often with the state m. But in kind replacements of lights, outlets, switches (maximum of 5 though) and circuit breakers are exempt. That said, my old house I sold a few years ago I renovated it before I moved out… let’s just say the work was to code. If I did renovations or handyman work for a living then I would definitely either know my customer well, and if they were by the book type, I’d make an arrangement with a friend in the trade. You can run all the conductor and outlets and switches and lights to your heart’s content and not energize it and still be legal as long as it’s not covered up yet. Your buddy pulls the permit, checks the work, connects to power, calls for the inspection and gets a nice easy payday.
Question……would this primer work on wood that’s polyurethaned? Or would I have to remove the polyurethane?
