How to paint a kitten in acrylics | Painting realistic fur
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I'll show how to paint a kitten in acrylics. When painting soft fur the layers and brush technique are important but as a lot of this kitten was slightly out of focus there were also many blending techniques used throughout. How to blend acrylics relies on a few factors. As the paint can dry very fast we need to keep it wet for as long as needed so that our blending brushes can soften the edges. For this my preferred method is wet into wet blending =).

Thank you =). I am using a combination of rounds, liners and filberts. I prefer smaller/medium brushes as I feel I have more control over each layer that way. I love the Daler & Rowney brushes as they last forever =)
❤
I so enjoy your videos!

No, thank you you're amazing. And I mean that from the bottom of my paintbrush :)
This is bestcat have seen. What is cost of your patrion to get this full tutorial of kitten?
This great! Very well explained. I heard there is a type of medium you can add to acrylics to slow the drying time. Do you know if that's true? So do you know what the product is called? Thank you.

Pleased to hear it was useful =). Yeah there is but it can make the paint behave differently when layering. I contacted Liquitex about the one they make as I use their paint and they said that it can make the paint feel tacky for longer and that means you can't add future layers on top as quickly. So instead I just use water and do wet on wet blending and then I can use the faster drying time to get onto the next stage without having to wait 😁

@@zaratomsart water sounds like the perfect solution thank you for this.
One more question. I've never painted before. I've been interested in oils. Do you think acrylics is better for total beginners? Can they serve as sort of training wheels?

I used to work in oils but switched to acrylics as I found the slow drying time of oils frustrating. But they are easier to blend with so that can be a plus side compared to acrylics. Other than that I use acrylics and oils in the same way in terms of how I layer and use the brushes

@@zaratomsart thank you for that explanation. I've actually tried boiled just once. Immediately noticed how long it takes to dry. It took a few days. I was just like the line if I even like the paint. So it sounds like acrylics might be a good place to start. Costco appeals to me as well but they seem high maintenance not to mention expensive.

The video is so fast! I can't see what kind of brush you are using or how you are mixing the paint or anything. The finished painting is impressive though.

I wonder why beautiful artists such as urself don't sell your services to those of us who would love to hire you???
I have a question. I keep seeing people using blush brushes to blend or smooth out the paint. My question is, do you have several of the blush brushes? Do you rinse them after use. How do you keep the paint from drying on them? Do you use a different one every time you use it?
@zaratomsart

When using blush brushes, its best to have a few because once they have to put paint on from blending they won't blend the same. If you wet them to clean them you need to swap to another dry one as once wet they won't blend at all. If I need to, I'll wash them mid way through a painting and dry them with my hair dryer. That works well and only takes a few minutes to get them dry enough to use again. If you wipe the blush brush off on a paper towel every time you use it for blending then there isn't ever to much on the brush that causes a issue once it's dried.

@@zaratomsart Thank you. You mention that you prefer blush brushes over blending brushes made for painting. Can you say what blush brushes you use?
