This is one of the most basic ways to paint a door and achieve a good results.
In this case I painted two front doors, one of them with a different colour on the outside.
I try to show how you can paint the door standing for the primer coat.
By painting the door flat on its side, minimise the risk of paint drips.
You can use screws or nails as a door stacker, which will allow you to paint both sides of the door at the same time. Use a small block of timber, plastic, cardboard to lean the door against the wall or floor to create a separation and avoid marks.
For new timber, apply 2 coats of good quality primer (water based for fast drying). Once it's dry, sand the door again with a soft grit sand paper and apply 2 coats of water base enamel with a short nap roller to avoid thick edges and roller marks.
Install the hinges back to the door first and then hang the door to the frame.
I replaced the old hinges for new ones and new and longer screws.
