    Nice tutorial. Happy to see someone finally got the placing of the water bottle correct. German paratroopers were part of the luftwaffe and as such were issued brown leather items....in theory. They ended up with a lot of black leather belts and holsters as well. Like in this example the guy has a beer bread bag. The luftwaffe bread bag was blue. Fallschirmjäger could have either. Because fallschirmjäger helmets were in short supply, they also wore the regular luftwaffe issue helmets. I've seen lots of pictures of that. So if you want some change in your figures, that could be a nice option as you could see one soldier wearing the fallschirmjäger helmet while the man next to him was wearing a standard issue luftwaffe helmet.

    very nicely presented shane! weathering the face? that was a cool idea. never really thought of that myself until now. so i gotta ask, will there be a small base for this paratrooper in cassino debris? man, i´d love this!

  • @longlance67

    @longlance67

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ya though he would be good figure to experiment with facial weathering on, from the photos in the book you gave me really showed how run down and grimy these troops were. Since you asked ;) I totally have a base in mind for this chap ;) ps. sorry not getting back on with yee on sunday may or may not have fallen asleep lol

    Great video as always Shane. But i have one question. Did you put a coat of varnish on the Figure before you apply the wash to it ?

  • @longlance67

    @longlance67

    7 жыл бұрын

    thanks mate, with oil washes I will normally always gloss coat my model, however with acrylic washes like the one I used in this video I tend not to, but there is no harm to gloss it if anyway

    Nice video Shane....here's a small historical note: A lot of the German pistol holsters were actually dyed the black color by their users, not sure why maybe just a preference in the field or availability of black dyes? Thanks for posting.

  • @longlance67

    @longlance67

    7 жыл бұрын

    from what my research it seems that German Army holsters and leather equipment was black and Air Force was brown leather, though I am sure FJ personnel dyed some of their kit too

    could you tell me a little more about these 1/35 figures. are they plastic or resin? just one person kits? do you glue them together or do they come together and you just paint? Brand name? i have ordered a couple of the tamiya 1/35 kits that come with a few figures, plastic these look nicer? if you have stated where these are from and the brand then i missed it sorry. great videos thanks
