I love this car. And I also have one and it is in Immaculate condition. It has become my favourite Jaguar. I certainly would not trade it for a newer ones or even one of the faster models. When it comes to Jags they offer much more than speed.

Congratulations Tom. I have a 1996 XJ6 4ltr LWB. In the 70's I had one of the first series 1's and it was also a great car, but the X300 is the beat XJ6 ever. Mine is in much better condition, because when I bought it 7 years ago, it had only done 80,000klm. i also live in Australia and cars don't suffer from rust. I suggest you get some fisholine rust protection sprayed everywhere through all the panels and sills immediately after any rust repair work has been done. I also have a 2006 XType but the X300 is a much easier car to work on. I do my own work so you can take that from me as gospel. The ride in these X300's is superb. If you have to change the dampers, then make sure you order the comfort ones as the sports ones are much firmer. I have always kept away from the sports or XJR models for that reason. I am not a racing driver and I grew out of my juvenile mentality of speed and power years ago, and that is why I have a simple comfort first XJ 6. I wish you good lock with yours.

Hi Richard, nice to read your experience! Indeed the Australian climate is much better for cars. We will see what this car will bring 😅

Great timing, i also just bought a 1996 X300 Sovereign. Mine has a few more issues than yours, I think. I look forward to seeing more of your content.

Can be a money pit? My 1996 xj6 sure is. Still love the ride.

Fwiw, it will be cheaper than financing an entry level economy car for 5 years.

@@EdAb Totally agree. Almost done with all the mechanical work. Other than plugs and coil packs , normal fluid changes, should be good for another 75k miles!
