This is a really good and helpful tutorial, but there’s one thing I think you should add onto it: Right click the “Text Layer” then click on “Merge Down” this way you can easily move the text around along with the outline if needed

There should just be a single button for this

Like there is in photoshop, it's called stroke. It always amazed me how Gimp lacked those basic layer tools that appear in Photoshop.

There is Edit -> Stroke Selection. You just need to select your text by right-clicking the text layer and clicking Alpha to Selection. You may want to do it behind the text, though, by painting it into a layer beneath the text.

"Open source" is a corruption of free software. Free software isn't necessarily about price, but about software freedom. If you support software freedom, you should say "free software", or "libre software", or "free/libre software".

This is a very "No BS" Video. Short, sweet, to the point. This is one of those "final step" things because you have to be sure everything is done and corrcect because you cant just redo the lettering and expect it to adapt to the correction.
