Hello, I want to ask a question. I bought my first pool for the summer and I want to ask, what to do first first after filling my pool with water. Do I use chlorine or shock first?
Man, I was feeling intimidated by the pool we bought with our new house last year. You did such a fantastic job walking through everything-thanks a ton!

Did you see this kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqiVls2TqZrUabA.htmlsi=1elLLdLd17xqFkDF Getting them out is not super easy. I either pay my kids off to jump in the cold water at the end of the season . I have my older boy and me pick them out and my younger boy grabs the weights out from underneath before we get it completely out of the pool.

Thanks for your great video..I don’t have a sand pump but I will be doing this with a friend this summer. The pool companies are outrageous in cost to open and close it. They also didn’t connect the ground correctly last year as you showed how to do it. Thanks again!😀

We used a leaf cover for our pool over the winter . It's way better than a tarp. The leaf cover is basically a net it keeps debris outta the pool and is so much easier to take off.

All the research I did you have to buy a cover with a 20 year warranty or better. The cover will never last 20 years but they are better than the cheaper ones. Look in the description of this video there is a link to the one I bought. I still can not promise how long it will last I have only used it on year. Hopefully they sell your size. kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2eolbCbYdq2drw.html
Do you know what brand of cover you have. I have purchased two cheaper ones and they only last a season before getting holes. Yours looks like it is heavy duty and will last longer. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Jim, I was told that the shock should but poured through the skimmer because since it is so strong it can ruin your liner. I was skeptical about doing that since most people do it directly in the pool water. Have you noticed if it has caused issues with the liner?
@DIYJIM
2 жыл бұрын
I normally get a bucket of warm water and try to dissolve it some then carefully pour it in my pool a little at a time all the way around. Just be careful it’s real strong wear eye protection.
@westfletcher9219

Correct , you don’t want that shock sitting on your liner . Adding shock through the skimmer will have. It dissolve. Never add shock in your skimmer though if you have a chlorinator . You’ll have a chemical reaction explosion.

I bust my ass getting the cover off. It doesn't take much water to weigh 500 pounds. And, of course, some of the sludge ends up back in the pool.

The first time I used a pillow, I inflated it as much as I could. It was totally deflated and full of water when I opened the pool. Then I saw a video that said to only inflate it enough that you should be able to push down in the center and touch the ground or deck underneath, maybe halfway, or as Jim suggests…75%. That seemed to do the trick for me. In the spring, it was still inflated to the same amount.

You sure are love ya bud
I never found a pool cover that would work correctly. They always end up holding rain water, and it's like trying to get an elephant out of the pool. Not to mention, the debris that would flow back into the pool, off the top of the cover. It's pointless!
@DIYJIM

I want my cover to keep rain and everything else out of the pool that way it looks nice and clean when I open it. I just pump or siphon the water off the top. Hope you have a good summer
@laureldavis500
Жыл бұрын
How do you pump the water off all winter? My cover looks like a skating rink. The rainwater pushes the pool water down and it goes out the inlet which I did not cover. Will the pool overflow if the skimmer and return are closed? My hoses are too frozen here in Vermont to pump water off during the winter.
Hey bud, what I use to clean the pool cover is MOLD ARMOR . Just spray it on the cover and forget it! No scrubbing and it comes out like brand new! I live in upstate New York. Good vid!
