Get a bucket and drill small holes in it and then place the pump in the bucket,works a charm!

Get a flat bottomed bucket, drill loads of small holes in it (5-10mm), then stand your pump inside the bucket. Anything that fits through the small holes should go straight through the pump with ease.

Get two buckets drill holes in both. Sandwich a layer of mesh (window screen) in between the buckets. Have a few extra mesh filters ready to switch out when the filter gets clogged.

I’m from Texas and there’s no way you could leave a pool like this at a house. Mosquitos, snakes, maybe alligators and who knows what else would be in there. Yikes! Great job, guys. That’s hard work.

I had to clean out an elevator shaft pit a few weeks ago and all I could think about was this channel lol. It’s nasty work vacuuming out water and digging a bunch of nasty mud for sure

Impressive clean, a strainer bucket would save you a lot of time cleaning the pump.

Great transformation. Try a petrol pressure washer on a job like this - you will be amazed how quickly it clears in comparison with any electric washer.

A few years ago I remodeled a pool at a horder house that had not been used since 1968 and the pool was built in 1958. The pool was full of hoarder junk and nasty water. I replaced the skimmer and all equipment along with new tile and plaster. When I have pools with this much sediment, dirt and debris I call a vac truck out to pressure wash and suck everyting out.

7:40 basic crab pot or fish basket. large like a crawfish trap with the top cut off, drop one in the muck after making a hole with the shovel. then put the pump in the middle of it.

Hell, that is one disaster of a "pool" . The surround , walls (corrugated iron lean to) , paving all are going to need a lot of attention . The pool looks like it needs to be sandblasted and re surfaced with new plaster. Huge job ahead. Hats off to you guys.

There’s an entire ecosystem underwater inside that pool. Imagine the amount of Mosquito Larvae that’s swam through that swamp over the years. No fish at all.
