Thanks for watching glad was able to help, sounds like your switch is going out are it needs to be cleaned, to do so you should blow it off with some air if it keeps going out. Please check out my other videos and subscribe if haven't already.

THANK YOU for showing this ... felt like a fool when the window started to open, but then realized the switch was defective, would not CLOSE window lol ... fuse was OK ... and now it's raining ... will order a new switch but can at least now close that damn Moonroof (who needs a Moonroof that opens, anyways?!?) ...

Thanks it really works too. My sunroof has been open for three months while traveling through rain and drizzling weather. Mine didn't have the screw so I got it loose and use a flathead screwdriver. So thanks again for the video.

Thank you so much! This worked brilliantly on my sun roof to close it. Afterwards I thought I'd be a smart ass and do it the other way to make it open again but didn't listen to your instructions properly. I now have no interior lights or clock 😂 but at least my sun roof is closed 👍👍

Hi sorry for your problem most likely you blew a fuse for your clock and light check your fuses should be a easy fix.

Wow

Thanks great vid, got mine closed before the rain! Apparently if your battery goes dead, or you change the battery with the sunroof open it goes into error mode because it thinks it's closed when its open. Once you hot wire it closed, turn car off then, while holding the switch in the close position, turn car on, continue holding the switch for 30 secs and that will cause it to relearn the closed position. The switch is rarely the problem.

This has been most helpful. I have a 2005 Suburban, the battery was dead at some point, and when I charged the battery and drove the car, I openeed the sun roof. But then it would not close! I had to remove the headliner, remove the sunroof assembly, take it into my garage and get the sunroof to close manually (two little tabs at the back released the glass). Then I had to re-install it all. It was a total nightmare. However, before I reinstalled it, I was able to use this trick in this video to test my theory. I used the small wire as directed and I fully closed the window and waited 20 seconds until I heard a little whirr and click. Then I was able to fully open it and fully close it. Only then did I have the confidence to re-install and put the headliner back on. THANK YOU!!

Thank you for this awesome video my friend. I have a 2006 H2 Hummer and I refuse to let her go. I took her to the car wash today and the moon / sun roof wouldn't close. In fact when it would do the opposite. I had to leave the car wash and came home wondering how much is the dealership going to ding for this fix. Thank god I found your video - it closed and will stay that way until I can get a new switch. Cheers !

Thanks for the video. I had an old Volvo that had switch issues for the windows and sunroof. I disassembled the switches and cleaned the contacts. They worked fine after that and it cost me nothing to repair.

Flashback502: Thanks so much for your video! I opened the sunroof on my 2008 Chevy Malibu while driving to a neighboring city, but the switch would not close it! And rain is predicted for tonight! None of the sunroof fuses were blown, and I was distressed to see that the OM had no procedure for closing the sunroof manually in a pinch. I watched your video and decided to give your technique a try as I have plenty of wire. No screwdriver was needed to pop open the ceiling switch panel. I started by wiggling the connector to the sunroof switch and decided to try to use the switch to try to close the sunroof. Lo and behold, it WORKED! I carefully snapped the switch panel back into place. Your inspiration just saved me a trip to the local mechanic and a day without my car!

My car battery died, I thought it still had enough power to close my sun roof since it stayed open, but it didn't I got it closed half way, the next day I jumped started my car and that's when it got stuck, Pryor to that day I had zero problems, thanx for ur help.

Thanks! This worked exactly as shown on my 2001 tahoe (as far as the pinouts go). Turns out mine was something else and I still couldn't get it to close though. It did open it more though :-/ So I thought I'd try the reprogramming thing some other site mentioned and that got it to close! I tried it earlier but I guess I didn't hold it long enough. Oh, also none of the other sites mention that when you hold it (for "around" 30 seconds) that it won't make any noise. Some say you'll hear a gear cranking or something, but mine made no sound. So I was sure it didn't do anything, but I swapped the wires around (Still hot-wiring it because it was there) and it closed. Thanks again for helping me get part way there.

I just fixed mine. In the under hood junction box , fuse CTSY LP 15 amp. It was blown. Replaced it, works like a champ!

Before everyone starts replacing the switch, Get yourselves a can of "Caig Laboratories - DeoxIT D5S-6" Contact Cleaner and remove the switch and give it a good spray or two. I had my drivers side master window switch not operating my passengers window (I had to reach over and use its own switch), so I removed the switch to get more angles of attack and gave it a couple spritzes, gave it a second to dry (dries very fast) then shot some compressed air through it. Now both directions work great... Sometimes moisture or gunk can get inside and cause a little corrosion and loss of contact and all it needs is a little TLC... It's worth a try

Hey brother thanks for the great video. I got a 2001 Chevy Suburban and I accidentally vented the sunroof and when I tried to close it the switch wouldn't work for closing. I'm up in central Canada and it's getting real cold and snowy out now. Without your video I would have been in bad shape. Thank you again brother much love

Thanks for the video! I have a 2003 Lexus GX470 with the sunroof stuck open. The plug seems a little different with more metal spokes, have you ever come across Lexus wiring and if this approach would work with that make/model?

@@Flashback502 i actually pulled the fuses and check it . Fuse was okay then the roof worked so could have been a loose wire or loose fuses connection that reset when i pulled the fuse

Yes that can be the problem, sometimes when u unplug it and plug it back it works because it was lose or had bad connection.

Just as side note, for a Nissan Altima this doesn't work but you can use a Allen wrench to manually close or open in an emergency. It's a kinda white allen key hole where sunroof motor is under cover. This just happened to me and after extensive research came upon a comment by someone else. Nissan doesn't even have this listed in their manual for an emergency-BS on them!

Hi, My 1997 Volkswagen golf GLI sunroof is stuck in the open position and can't close it. do you have any experience with how to close it? thx

Hi i haven't worked on your model but I would think the same technique of disconnecting the power supply from the switch and using a jumper wire to close the window should work as long as your motor isn't bad. Thanks for watching please subscribe.

Mine is stuck open as well I tryed to take switch apart do you know what wires to jump if 2003 exp. if not heard a manual way at motor with hex key but couldn't find a easier way then to drop headliner ?
