Mine has the middle courtesy lights but without the plastic switch (bought it used) what should i do to fix it?

I am based in Saudi and I was facing this issue for the past week. I had to disconnect the battery cables to keep the lights switched off. And then I saw this video of yours. What a simple miss. i turned my dial all the way up and didn’t realize🤦🏻‍♂️ been like that for months even went as far to take the bulb out to save the battery thanks man!

My door lights stayed in tonight. I was planning to remove the door panel and replace the latch. I had turned the light dimmer all the way up and didn't notice the switch! Thank you for giving me the solution! So simple!

Very helpful this is exactly what I needed. I was pulled over by the police and they hit something in my car to where my light wouldn’t turn off. I thought my trunk was open, maybe the hood or the doors even. No it was the dash dimmer switch. Thanks a lot man 💯

My 06 F150 dome light wounld't turn off. I checked the door hinges and door switch in the door. Kept draining my battery. Problem was I had turned on the dome light dimmer switch into the on position. Your channel is a lot of help for us automotive challenged guys.

You're amazing brother, you fixed my issue in less than 2 minutes! 07 Trailblazers have that rotating dash illumination switch to the left of the steering wheel, and turning it all the way to the right makes a click & keeps the dome lights on. News to me! Now I know.

Omg! Thank you so much for this video. This happened to me last night and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. The first step was to check that little dash lights switch and that was the problem it was switched all the way on. Such a simple thing but I'm thankful that you posted this video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Love this I washed my 2001 Ford Excursion clean inside and out and after that the running bord lights and dome stay on. forced me to take fuse #4 out to save the battery. today I see this video and boy when I clean the car I accidently turn the light switch on. Thank you for the video it was wonderful.

Fantastic advice I found the issue was in the passenger side door once I clicked it all the way back and then clicked it forward the lights doing really good right now so far so good thank you so much for making this video

Keep in mind; there is a timer involved with the driver's side door vs. the passenger side door. Light will stay on about a minute after you close the driver's side door, but goes out immediately when you close the pass. side door. It can trick a person!

The funny thing is I just copied you slamming the doors shut a bunch and it worked so my life is fixed, but I will absolutely be back in a month when it gets messed up again. Thanks

@@1AAuto great tutorial but recently i bought 2 new dome light switches (whole piece with working lights) and one of them only turns light if i flip switch to the "OFF" position Is there a way to fix it and make it turn om with door (the other one works good but having the 2 working good us good if one blows)

I am having this problem and have been perplexed. My light has been on for over a month. Thanks for sharing this information!! Very helpful -

Ty. My lights killed my battery in a matter of minutes. I tried closing doors, checking inner switches with no luck. I hope the added ideas will fix my problem.

Sticky door latch mechanism will cause the latch to not fully rotate and not engage the micro switch on the latch. Using WD-40 and some maintenance lubricating the latch and the hinges is supposed to be routinely done. If your hinges are good and door alignment is good, it’s likely do to lack of lubrication on the latch inside the door. Try some WD-40 on the latch cam a lubricate the latch assembly and see what happens. Notice when he rotated the latch cam with a screw driver, the light went out. In the Ford truck scenario, it was obvious the hinges were bad but that’s not always the case.

Now I'm confused although your tips were helpful it did not fix my issue of the interior dome lights staying on, in my 2003 Acura mdx. Never had issues before. I went out to lock my doors and noticed the dome lights on. Going around the vehicle opening and closing the doors didn't work. So I tried each door switch, including the hatch and it only turned off my door courtesy lights. I pulled the fuse do to no other options.

Toyota camry 2006 - So the problem in my case was the switch itself, the contact inside of the sliding button was very bad so little bit of sanding with sanding paper and wiping with alcohol based liquid fixed the issue! Thanks for you videos man!

How about a dome light that stays on anywhere from 15 seconds to 1 and a 1/2 minutes before it decides to go off? My 2013 Ford Edge does that every time I get in it now. That along with the warning notification on the dash saying my left rear door is ajar (which its not), is irritating.

My 2012 Hyundai rear courtesy light is on for way too long- then shuts off by itself. I am checking further, This appears to be an integrated body control computer timer problem. I will look elsewhere- yet, your video is a good first check. Thank You!

After I checked my 2000 Windstar door switches, and backdoor switches failed. Buttons got stuck because of lack of lubricant or grease. sprayed with WD40 and the latches worked like new but there was still a problem. All the interior lights still stay on. I gave up because it was already nighttime. I removed all the bulb lights inside my van that don't turn off to avoid draining my battery. I gathered all my tools and stopped working. After having our dinner, I still don't feel relax because I keep on thinking of what the problem would be. I went to KZread and found this A1 Auto Repair tip video. I was enjoying watching the video because the guy has a sense of humor. When it comes to that portion of the dimmer switch next to the headlight switch, I paused the video and grab my Windstar key, ran and opened my garage. I checked the dimmer switch, and it was on the ON position. I put one bulb back inside the dome light then adjust the dimmer and it worked. The light will now turn off when I shut the door. All doors are working and will turn off the dome light. So, I took all light bulbs and put them back. It only took me less than 10 minutes to make it work again. I was working with that for almost 2 hours this afternoon and can't find the problem. Hey A1 auto repair guy, thank you so much for that video. That is why watching A1 repair videos will save you time. Hey, you guys out there having problems with your cars, subscribe like I did. Watch the video, buy the parts from A1, do it yourself and they are right, you save lots of money. I just want to thank you.

If I turn the dimmer switch to the on position for courtesy lights, my map lights and dome light comes on. Working fine, and I can turn the map lights off and on and done light stays on. If I turn off the courtesy setting, the dome light turns off and I can no longer turn on my front map lights.

My lights were so hot from being on for so long Thanks to this video was able to get them off

Another possibility is that a piece of trash may be blocking the pin from doing its job- some pins are like a lever- I just fixed mine a tiny twig got caught in it and kept it from closing completely.

Worried about my battery. 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. My driver side door is broken but the only turn off switch I have is for the driver side and it is on off however sometimes just shaking it works the little knob in the door. But lately my lights have been coming on in the middle of the night I get in the car to go to work they're on I'm like oh my gosh.

I wish you would fix my 05 Suburban. It stays running when I turn the key off! Then I turn OFF the headlight switch and the engine shuts off. Or, if I unplug the drivers side headlight, the engine will shut off. I redid at least 3 grounds and still no fix. And, it won’t get out of limp mode usually. But when has run run properly, it totally flies. 6.0 really boogies! Edit: I changed out headlight switch and ignition switch from my other Burban. No go.
