How to multiply and divide rational expressions
Learn how to multiply/divide rational expressions. A rational expression is an expression in the form of a fraction, usually having variable(s) in the denominator. Recall that to multiply two fractions, we multiply the numerators together and multiply the denominators together and to divide by a fraction, we multiply by the reciprocal of the fraction. The same rules applies when we want to multiply/divide two rational function.
Given two rational expressions, to multiply the two expressions, we factor all the polynomials and then cancel out all the common factors between the numerator and the denominator. We then multiply the remaining numerators together and the remaining denominators together. The result is the simplified product of the two rational expressions.
Given two rational expressions where one is dividing the other, we first turn the divisor rational expression upside down and change the division sign to multiplication sign. We then follow the process of multiply two rational expressions.

I used to feel the same way but don't worry. There are bad days but once they are over things are completely different. A few failures won't destroy everything. Life carries on, just roll with the punches and you will end up okay and alive every time! Also I assume you were in 11th or 10th grade when you wrote this so just look forward to all the things you'll get to do when school is finished for good.

Your videos are some of my favorite. I am a working dad going back to school in my mid 30's and just want to let you know I appreciate that you've posted these. You do such a great job of explaining what we need to know and simplify your own methods of teaching so well! Helps save me headaches and time trying to figure out this stuff! All the best to you!

You are literally a magician I never really found algebra a like-able subject but after I discovered your channel it's really fun to solve... it's 2024 and your videos are still helpful to me and my friend! Thank you so much

I don’t know what I would do without these videos thankyou 🙏🏾
There is a mistake at 2:41 when you reduce the fraction 4/6 to 3/2.
Thank you. I am Behind on this lesson and this is helping me catch up.
Math vids are actually better than Math classes most of the times methods teached to us are so long I'd even get lost in my computations Ty teach!
Q. At the 2:50 mark in the video, how does 4/6 = 3/2 ? Doesn't 4/6 reduce to 2/3 ? Did I miss something in your explanation?
thank you for showing me a method of doing this i understand. im still struggling with the more complex ones though

I just checked, this was made in 2014 wow. Still helpful but i just hope i can do good on my next (last test of the year).
what happened to the (x+4) at the very end? why’s it suddenly not part of the final calculations
bro 2:42 its 2 thirds he go it backwards
At the beginning, when you 1/2 x 4/3 = 4/6, you said it reduced to 3/2. 4 doesn't reduce to 3. It reduces to 2, so it would have been 2/3. Is that correct, or am I missing something? Sorry, it's been 10 years since I graduated high school, and I'm trying to refresh my memory on math, lol.

at the end what happened to the (x+4) ???
An elementary school teacher always told me "dividing fractions is as easy as pie, flip the second and multiply." I'm in highschool and I still remember it haha.
So with x+5/3x * 9x^2/x+5 would it equal 3x^2?

no you cannot divide terms across addition
Have a test tommorow it apppears I don’t get it :(
In 2:40 isn’t 2\3? because 4 divided by 2 it will 2 not 3 and 6 divided by 2it will be 3

I know here in America many community colleges use Pearson for online education. I have completed 2 math classes through this company via my school and it is a terrible math interface when it comes to providing any help or teaching anything. It is really pathetic and fragmented when you compare the examples to the homework. The biggest issue is they do not fully explain and make the assumption that you know all of these things that you may not know. That is not teaching. I have gone to Mclogan for both classes and his videos got me through the classes. Pearson should really give Mclogan the contract because what they are providing is not adequate.
can someone please explain to me how 4/6 reduces to 3/2

Bit late, not a math expert, but prime numbers are ONLY that number and 1, take 5 for example, it HAS to split into 5 x 1, so in favoring like 5x^2 + 6x + 1 it would split as (5x + 1) (x + 1), don't mind the + parts only the 5x and the x
