I am also a 40 something newbie, but I did learn to do an ok hop. This video helped: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n3uXubCyaNLAndI.htmlsi=gel75A57Hju_7vXi Not hating on this guy, but he is showing a more advanced way to hop. You can still get a decent j hop without all the extra movement.

Amazing! Why has it taken so long for someone to make video tutorials that are articulate and easy to understand. If i lived in the US, I would most certainly book some coaching with you. Keep it up buddy! 🤘
