I have a question, I hope you can help me, my boyfriend is a Finnish citizen, and I live in Chile, we want to get married in Finland, after that apply to the residence permit, do I need to go to Finland with a tourist visa, get married right after and apply the residence permit? Can I get married with a tourist visa of 90 days? What if I still don't have the answer of the application when the tourist visa is expired? Would I need to leave Finland and wait for an answer in my country and then come back to Finland? I hope you can help me with my doubts. Thanks in advance.

    Aleksi.... I wish there was a private way to ask this question. You have a wealth of knowledge and insight. You also address questions in a very straight up way. So, I am in the process of applying for a "returnee" type visa (my grandparent was Finnish by birth and migrated with his family as a child). With my "returnee" type visa, I will be accompanied by my wife and our 3 teenage children. I am former military with tertiary degree in psychology (10+ years experience). My wife is a Phd Psychologist (with 20+ years exprience). We have strong English language skills but NO knowledge of Finn language. Putting aside all else, do you believe our tertiary qualifications/experience will help us in any meaningful way?

    Thank you for the video. I am currently studying in Languages and International Business and I am going to finish my Bachelor in a year. As a EU citizen, I plan to immigrate to a Scandinavian country along with my girlfriend. I plan to start applying for jobs around September of this year in order to have more time to find something. Do you think I could easily find a job in Finland with my degree ? If so, do you have any tips about where should I look first ?

  • @forestmanzpedia

    @forestmanzpedia

    4 жыл бұрын

    As far as I know degrees and graduations are generally accepted within EU countries... but not everything gets accepted. It could be that your degree gets accepted only by half, which means you can do additional work to let it fully recognize later on. That is because countries have often their own terms and conditions when it comes to various degrees. So in this case, you need inform yourself and ask Finnish agencies. In case you are an EU citizen, then you shouldn't have much trouble or none. (: I know a hungarian teacher, who moved to Germany. Her degree was only recognized by half and had to do some extra work (to fulfill the terms and conditions) to get her title as teacher accepted.

    Hi Aleksi. My non EU husband got his PR to work in Finland just a month ago and I am planning to get PR too. Should I get it based on the family ties? Even though he just got there for a month. Does immi need him to show atleast 6 months of payslip as a proof that he is capable to support me? Also, planning to study when I get there. Which one is better? Is it to apply based on family ties or as a student? Thanks!

We will soon be living together hopefully (as soon as I am able to sell my house etc in the U.S.), but we are not yet engaged. Money is not an issue, so I could clearly show I have enough money to support myself, prior to finding work. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Hi Alex, good day, I applied for private visit visa for 90 because i have my aunt (sister of my mom) who lives in Finland for 5 years. If our private visit visa will be approved and hopefully we will be there soon, can we apply for residence permit before or On expiry of our private visit visa there in Finland? What will be the best step to do? is it on or before expiry?

After all, I am retired, so I do not **need** to work, but suppose I can: am I allowed to? P.S. What is enough pension? like 800 a month, 1000 a month, 2000 a month?

    Hei Aleksi! Thank you for this video and all the others. I've been watching them for about a week and I find them a wellspring of practical information 🙇🏻 However, there is one question that is not giving me peace and I cannot find the answer to it anywhere. I thought that maybe you would know or could direct me somewhere where I could learn the answer. I'm a EU citizen, living in the UK and I have a full time permanent job at a UK company that does not operate outside of the UK. My employer allows for remote work. I would like to move to Finland and work remotely from there. Is it possible? I mean, I understand that I would have to register my residence after 3 months, and I guess that then I will have to switch from paying the income tax in the UK to paying it in Finland at the local rate. But what with the part of the tax that my employer pays on my salary? You know, my_net_pay + my_income_tax = my_gross_salary, my_gross_salary + tax_my_employer_pays = total_salary_costs. I cannot figure out what happens to the tax_my_employer_pays bit when I move, as my employer has no business in Finland and I want to remain their full time permanent (just remote) employee. Sorry, that was a bit long inquiry. I would be very grateful for any hints. Kiitos etukäteen. Moro!

    Hi Alex, In a few years I will retire and wish to come to Finland. From the official information I see, coming to Finland while retired is *not* one of the options. You have to either have commitsments (family in Finland, or a job, or something like that), or you are an expat (whatever that means). So the question is: if you have no previous ties to Finland, but you do have enough income, will Finland grant you a residence permit? P.S. I live in EU.
