I prefer arriving at the biting point while having the pedal brake pressed and when you have to go fastly swap brake pedal to accelerate so the car starts instantly and it gets the gas fast. Literally the method for not stalling when you are on a climb, but I use it everywhere, cause it's way safer since you don't know if your car could go backwards in any road you are, even if for you it doesn't look inclined

Don’t hold your foot on the clutch in first if you are stopped at a red light, you will wear the clutch throw out bearing very fast. When I’m in gear 2 and I slow down a bit and downshift to gear 1, the car is on the high side of the speed and revs for that gear so around 11mph. And when I bring the clutch up there is a of a jerk. How i avoid that is by braking until around 6/7mph then fully coming off the clutch. But my instructor said you can downshift and come off the clutch even if you are on the high side so still around 10/11mph and slowly, smoothly come off. Is this correct and will that prevent the jerk?

On my car, if I don't give it gas before releasing the clutch, it goes straight out. It's very nasty when someone does not respect the distance and stops 20 cm behind you. And I'm on a high hill it's very stressful. I have to hold the clutch all the way down and the brake. And then very quickly and at the same time I have to step on the gas and release the clutch to the "bite" point. Literally the car goes backwards for a second and it's just enough to hit the one behind me. If I fail to start properly and the car dies.

Hey, no, pressing the gas first won't make it stall. The opposite is true. If you bring the clutch up first before the gas, you're more likely to stall then. If you're stalling in your dad's car, it's probably because the biting point is in a different place than what you're used to. Once you drive it more, you won't stall.

Well the biting point should stay at the same position, except that more gas equals more power, more torque and lower risks of stalling. That's what people may think because they're taught to stay in say 1,2-2,5k rpm range because that's the most efficient for cruising. Being higher up in the rpm range does increase the wear that's being done on the engine especially if it hasn't had time to warm up, but it will also almost universally increase the power the engine can give you. Especially in lower powered petrol cars, if you need the acceleration, you need to spin the engine into higher rpm. That car that's marketed as having 100 HP will almost certainly not put out 100 HP in rpms below 2,5k maybe only some diesels will. In my country you can find the rpm at which maximum power is reached in its registration papers. I don't know why would 4k rpm in first gear be worse than 4k rpm in fourth gear. If you don't go that high, you'll lose a ton of acceleration due to the time it takes to upshift and then accelerate again in second gear at low rpm, so if you need to accelerate quickly, you have no other choice. The engine is designed to handle rpms up to the redline if it's at operating temperature.
