Is there a list of what lowrance units are compatible with the motorguide? is it just HDS or will other newer models connect?

We use the HDS. I found this info that might help you. A HDS Gen 3, HDS Carbon, HDS Gen 2 Touch, HDS Gen 2, and Elite-7/9/12TI's can use the Motor Guide XI-5. The only additional part would be a NMEA 2000 Network and the MotorGuide gateway. If you don't already have one NMEA starter kit is part number 124-69.

Great video. I've purchased a suntracker fishin barge 20 DLX pontoon and I was wondering will this system work or do you have any other recommendations. I chose not to purchase the fish finder and trolling motor that comes with the boat because I want a better system to control the boat and locate brush piles, etc, etc.

I would really talk with a dealer or marine shop and see what shaft length and lb thrust you should get for your size of boat. Motorguide, Minkota, Lowrance, ect.. all have about the same features. The real trolling motor game changer is coming in the future from Power--Pole, But we don't know when it will hit the markets.

@@ThenextbiteTvShow hi i was wondering can you put the motor guidexi5 in idle if you put the troll master in idle to real fish in ? Because I was thinking about using the x I 5 to stear my boat and kicker for trolling

You just got to hit your key fob on your neck into anchor mode. Then your XI 5 keep you in place while trolling motor idles.

What's the difference between "pinpoint" and regular GPS spot lock? Just simply connection to finder system?

The "pinpoint" is more then just hitting anchor and staying in one spot. You can jog around in 5 foot increments and has tons more feature you can find here: ww2.motorguide.com/introducing-pinpoint

When you hit the "Go To" waypoint button, will it actually stop on that waypoint or just take you over the waypoint?

Yes. If for some reason it does not. Just hit anchor on key fob.

@@ThenextbiteTvShow Thanks for the reply so long after the video was posted! Mine always takes off and just cruises right past the waypoint. I noticed you hit "anchor" first then "go to" so maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. I've acutally never noticed the commands on my Lowrance gen 3's like your video showed, so I'm definitely going to have to look for those.

Can all this be done with an xi3 motor that has gps and sonar built into it? Along with the fs elite graphs?

Yes Should be able to according to their website. As long as its XI 3 with GPS. Non gps version you can not.

My depth finder keeps saying trolling motor not deployed. Any advice?

Its hard to say with out seeing the set-up. Might want to give MotorGuide or Lowrance tech support a call. Or bring into a local dealer to look at.

will this work with the XI-3

Yes and No. There is a certain XI 3 that has the GPS. The dealer / Retail store should know.

I don't believe I have AutoPilot showing on my HDS 9 Gen 2. What could be the problem?

Hard to say with out sitting in the boat. You can bring your boat into a local dealer or call Lowrance. www.lowrance.com/contact-us/. You might have to update your Lowrance unit to the newest version. Usually updates fix any issues.

Can the system follow a contour or break line.

Hooked up with Lowrance Unit using the Gateway, I believe you can. Or you can set out a line of waypoints that the trolling motor will follow. But lots of lakes might not be on your lake chip. So that where repeat route is huge. You can make one pass (record your route) then you can reverse route and tell your XI5 or XI3 to follow that route. (great for lake with no contour data)

Do they hook up wireless with Bluetooth? Nema is 5 pin..my motguide plug is 6 pin?

there is a cable that you need. But some motorguides are not compatible. They sell GPS version and non GPS version of trolling motor.

I have the Lowrance Xi5 network connected on my boat but I can`t find those controls on my HDS live 9 @ the bow, or my HDS LIVE 12 unit @ the console.What am i doing wrong???

@@ThenextbiteTvShow I figured it out!! I just had to select the AutoPilot button in the settings menu then deploy the troll motor and the controls came up on my screen!

Please don't send hate in my direction... That being said, I bought a boat that has this whole setup( the exact setup) . I'm very new to owning a boat and am as lost as a kid in a candy store. This technology seems very advanced for me. I live in Minnesota and just want to be able to read my fish finders and control my motorguide. Does anyone have any advice or a video that will walk me through step by step. Thank you in advance.

Start by trying these links and watching some videos. Knowledge is power. Watch these videos and learn how to use your equipment and the power will be yours for the taking! going to depend on your boat. If in kayak you are going to be cruising vs in a boat. 😄. Not sure what advertised RMP's are. Another great option for trolling motor new to market is Power-Pole MOVE. They are Great trolling motors.
