best part "is kinda live", hahah
1 track per CD? Had no idea! Printed labels? Fantastic. Cue cards? Never even heard of that! Granted I'm still using vinyl. This was an amazing watch and he's got great teaching personality, keeps you well interested and entertained throughout!
It's so much easier than the old days of having to harmonically mix and beat match, and find que points, all by ear manually with the platters bouncing around all over the show. Although I suppose there's a lot you can do with CDJs to make up for that, effects, remixing on the fly etc.
"it makes you look really cool with your friends if you use those" - hahaa yeah it does!!
Holy shit, DJing is much more complicated than I thought

What's even crazier is this is the "easy" way of doing it, old school vinyl beat matching and mixing was incredibly hard.
@TranceCore3
10 жыл бұрын
Actually this seems harder than using vinyl. I was watching a tips and tricks thing for vinyl and was much easier to grasp than this. But DJ seems super harder than producing. Even if this is the easy way, it's still ridiculous lol. I've always envied DJs but now I have much more respect with what they have to go through.
@wayneaveyard5021

Devin Coleman this fight as been going on for years now, vinyl beat matching is the same as digital, with digital though you have more effects to use and features meaning you can do much much more oh the fly this is why most vinyl Dj's use digital now i.e use laptops. but i have to say turn tables are much easier, instead of cue points you use stickers and instead of reading the bpm you have to hear it. they both have there pros and cons. ***** producing is much harder than Dj'ing due to you have to build a track from scratch what you have to follow rules just like DJ'ing then master it and hope its a hit. i know this because i do both.

***** Digital also has sync and everything is laid out right in front of you, I'm talking true vinyl not serato vinyl, it's harder. But that's just my opnion, also I'm a controller DJ Traktor S4, I love digital and would never go vinyl.

***** I dunno. I know my ins and outs of producing, but I can't wrap my head around this. Maybe it's just the way armin does it.
No better person to learn from! Armin is the best there is and the best there ever will be!
BEAUTIFUL!!! lol I could listen to him doing this ALL DAY!
nice tutorial!!
Meow this is old school!
Love this guy... Different class!!! The best ever if you ask me!!!
Great Tutorial for Beginners!! You're Magic Armin!
Or you could use a pre-recorded mix, burn it on CD and bring it to the venue - you won't be more relaxed!

Guess what, Music needs to be changed according to clubs energy.
So sick of hearing that DJing is just beat matching. All of these arguments over how to beat match is just insane. Some people like to use counters, some like to do it by ear. I like to do it both ways. Use BPM as a guide then fine tune with my ear. The way I look at counters is it gives DJs more time to spend on effects and the crowd, rather than just spending your entire time trying to beat match a song.
i love that he used Rank 1's L.E.D be light... Such a great track!!
This really makes me want to mix, but I have no clue how to do it. I just imagine that feeling of giving people a dope mix and knowing they're having a great time.
Wow his accent was different then too.

TheMrKikiriki He speaks really good English, because i think he had a residency at a club in England years back but his Dutch accent is not that strong but i can pick it up instantly. Don't forget English is a mix of a lot of languages and in recent times it was Germanic. The Dutch and Germans along with Scandinavians can speak perfect English, better than me.

+Larsern420 where is the strange thing about it? He is a DJ, thus he's playing with discs where no cue points can be stored. You must have in mind some 19 year-old EDM "djs" that play with Traktor and make music with FL ha? So.. do not lough dude.

That's CUE/LOOP MEMORY a Pioneer CDJ-1000's feature; what store cue points of each disc in internal memory or on a MMC, can be recalled. I hasn't taken notice this feature before. Thanks Armin for suggetting !
My only objective is a DJ course with Armin. But he dont made. Its sad but instead of making courses he makes best music ever. LOVE HIM ASOT Podcast 312

Guetta sera nuero 1 en su estilo y para sus seguidores, como los seguidores de Tiesto pensaran que sigue siendo el numero 1, para mi Armin es unico e impecable y sin salirse de la linea que lleva dentro de la musica
I can't actually believe how great is English is.
I want to learn more about this !!.
Should mention phrase matching for any beginners. I know this video is ancient but it still comes up in searches and its got Armins name on it so its bound to still be getting hits regularly. Anyway, BEGINNERS ATTENTION! Look up phrase matching DJing/mixing. you would be surprised, lot of newbies don't realize exactly the idea behind WHERE in the tracks to mix the 2 tracks ( or 3 hah!) vs just hitting sync and moving the fader/vol sliders... seems natural for those who have spent time listening/mixing/producing dance music but for those who haven't it may be a new concept! good luck
